I had the same problem lol. Unlike other games in Craft the World there has to be fishies visibly swimming in the water :P
Even if you make a small pond near your base for fishing it will eventually spawn in fish! :)

Does not work, I have built a big lake, made 10 rods and 8 buckets of worms, equiped the worms (rods dont show to be equiped, figured like the sheers/Scissors, clicked on water, chose fish option, nothing happens, dwarves dont move there and just stand around idle. dragged dwarves manually to the area and they just walk off.

Think fishing is broken here

think the update did that, the dwarves have been un-responsive to even the most obvious things.....Yet they will happily chop down a tree or mine a block

I've found making several fishing locations helps a little. Build 1 or 2 on the surface and a few underground.

A big thing I noticed is not to cover the water with log platforms as it blocks the dwarves from fishing. I just put one of the side so they could reach the water properly.

Also making lakes in a V shape helps the water not drain.

Hope this helps! :) Stay Happy :)

the better -cheapest and reliable- bridges are ladders so dwarves never will have issues to find a place to fish from.

The image shows also that your elevators should not be useable as a fishing-platform,
avoid dwarves being able to fish from an elevator.

I always use stone bridges once the tech unlocks. Dwarves do not fall off and I find them aesthetically pleasing. They are also great if you are trying to melt water on the ice world, or build fish ponds. Just place the ice blocks on the bridge and it melts into the pond.

That's a great idea! I didn't think about the stone bridges (I got so tired of my dwarves falling off the log bridges ><)

Fill your pond with fishing tasks also , so you don't have to keep going back to click, otherwise they fill one backpack and thats it.
