Cant do anything with wheat

People keep telling me that i can plant wheat, but i have 20 in my inventory and cant place it on or around any block i see.

It's not the wheat that you plant, it's the seeds. Once you unlock farming in the skill tree, you can turn wheat into seeds. Alternatively, they drop from some blocks, namely roots iirc.

You have to convert wheat into seeds. Click on the seeds (in the second crafting tab), and "craft" them from the sheaves of wheat.

If you don't have the craft option yet, just plant seeds that you have.... the craft option will come along later in the tech tree.

Wheat seed drop from mining so you do not have to wait for the Tech Tree to sow your seeds. Just keep mining and you will soon have a bunch to plant
