How to backup your savegames
Hi

I do backups of my savegames very often.. because dwarfs often die for idiotic reasons: Endless jumping in the water, rushing goblin base alone, start picking up loot in the middle of a wave, moving to late to the elevator and fall down the tunnel..

The game will save your world at least if you go back to the main menue. Visit the following folder to find your savegames:

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\dekovir\crafttheworld\saves

There you will find one folder for each savegame. To backup one savegame just copy one of the slot-folders and rename it to whatever you want.

If I play slot5 then I copy slot5 to slot6 and continue playing slot6.. later I will copy slot6 to slot7.. and so on. Mostly I will keep just the last 2 copies. After slot10 I start over with slot1. This is working while game is running in main menue.. just load the duplicate savegame.

You could rename them to whatever you want.. but the game will detect only slot1 - slot10 as savegames.

Warning:

If you play (for example) slot7 and quit the game.. then DON'T delete slot7! Let the slot7-folder as it is. If you delete it (and/or rename another slot to slot7) then there is a good chance to crash the game on EVERY later game-start!

The reason is.. if you start the game or if you go back from a map to the main menue then the game shows you a background video/picture of your last played savegame. Means: If you delete the last played savegame.. there is nothing the game could show you in background.

This is kind of bug and they will fix it sometime. So just be carefull. :)
