Giant Worm

So, how to kill this one? I googled and found a seemingly easy way - Magic Explosion. Well, I found the worm, and started to clicking it with explosions at his face like mad. It got his health reduced to zero and then just appeared fully, started to ignore ANY dmg and simply walked away.
He did it 3rd time, I'm tired to farm mana bottles and giving up - any hints?

Seriously? At least 1.6% of people with game - killed him, and noone has any idea how to do that?
I've tried again and again, each time - magic explosion wont kill him fast enough and when he emerges - he's invincible.

I'm having trouble with this also. I hit it a few times with explosion to lower the health, and target it with my dwarves but they just run away like giant pansies.

Well, at this moment I already figured it out myself. Lower its health with explosions, and when it appear in full form - finish with fireballs. Was easy, but people seem to like keeping this "secret" from others.

Thanks. I didn't think to use explosion followed by fireball. I had initially tried fireball and it just launched the worm across the map so I forgot about using it.

if i some day get this worm killed, does it spawn back on same level or is it gone permanently?

Yes it will. Actually it's spawn rate is random, and I truly believe that each time you destroy red-colored blocks he has a chance to spawn, and can do this multiple times on one level. He does drop a good loot, but the mana spent on this is mostly wasted if you ask me.

thats sucks! -.- i hate that worm, it keeps destroying all my dungeons. so frustrating. .. i saw that worm first time on winter map and now im on desert and that worm is there too ... -.-

It starts appearing right at Desert map, World 2 and will keep doing it further. On the bright side - you can build your dungeons above "red zone" and dig it on your own risk for some Mitril and stuff.

Finally! JFC! Took me 2 whole days of constantly trying and I FINALLY got that F&*ker! I was seriously about to quit. Had to build my mana pool up to just over 300. Just barely made it with 10 mana left over. Watched a video on Youtube and was not sure how the person who posted the video was able to use Massive Explosion at only 10 mana per shot. Mine was 25-30+ a shot. On the sides of the map Massive Explosion costs almost 50+ so I could only get off like 5-6 shots and no mana left over for Fireball. I even had to build a 2nd home way down deep to keep the cost use per mana use lower. The guy in the video made it look so easy but it still isn't. Good luck to the rest of you. I need to take a break from the game for a while now.

If you put a "Magic Crystal" which you can buy from the store nearby then it'll reduce the cost of your spells since it calculates the cost from the nearest crystal too.

I honestly just ignore it and shrug it off as a cost of digging deep, (1700 hours in the game and I don't have the achievement :P ).

If you want to make it easier you can edit the `creatures.xml` file and find the section with

  <creature name="worm">

There's a line that says

      <healt value="50"/>

Change 50 to something like 1 and it should die in a couple of hits. You'll probably need to restart the map for this change to take effect though.

Yeah, i think I bought like 3 of those mana reducing crystals to see if more helped or not. I didn't think of putting one in the 2nd home down deep home.

As for changing the code... Nah, where's the fun in that? (Though I did contemplate it.) I'm not the kind to pull off a Kobayashi Maru.
