1. shear the sheep periodically to get wool without having to kill the sheep
2. mate the animals to produce more of what you need.
Just lay down lots and lots of traps and replace them when they get used up.
There is no wheat growing on my map anymore - what can I do?
How to play at speed 2?
Hey pal, if you have Ears of Wheat in your inventory you can craft them into Grain. To do this put one in the crafting table and seect the craft button. This will turn it into 2 Grains.
To play at speed 2 click on the circular time button thats on the top right hand side.
You only need put 1 animal in the farm, and it will multiple over time. Chicken-type multiple very quickly. Once the farm is full, you can start killing chickens every so often, since they replenish very quickly. With the sheep, you can shear them, but once they get full, I start killing them off as well. Means more meat and wool.
You only need 5 farm fence sections for a farm house, but I found that 5 was too few for my liking. For one, the sheep tend to be on top of each other, so you don't really get to shear 5 sheep.
As a result, I went with 7-10 fence panels, which will give up to 7-10 sheep. In that case, I shear 3-5 sheep at any time when their fleece is ready, and it feels like it's more useful for me in that way. I still kill the wild sheep for their wool and meat.
Chickens do reproduce quickly so every now and then, I will reduce their number back down to 3-5 so that they can continue laying eggs also.
Clay is easy enough to make. Get water and dirt and craft the clay. I usually take water from any of the ponds on the map (since I don't fish all the time). Selecting to take water that way means that the dwarf pretty much keeps making buckets of water until the pond is almost dry. Compare that to taking from the ground after it rains, where you may get 1 bucket and then have to select another sliver of water on the next tile.
