Wooden wall behind wooden wall/floor without cycling through the different wall sprites?
Hello Steamdwarfes! This game is addicting as hell!
When I want to build a house/shelter I build the front walls first so it is "closed that my dwarfes are going to sleep when they want to, and way later I try make the backround of my shelter prettier ( mining the dirt and put wood onto it! However when i try to build behind a wooden floor, the floor (or wall) spins through the different sprites, is it not possible to put a backround wall behind the front floor? It is possible with letters though.

Sorry for my bad english, I hope you guys know what I am trying to say.

If I understant you correctly--You want to build a new wooden back wall to replace the dirt, but you have a wooden floor installed on that tile, right? If this is true, you need to remove the floor, whether it's stone, wood, etc. , and then replace your back wall. Then just re place your wooden floor again. Hope I understood you well, and this helps you :happy_creep:

You understood me PERFECTLY! :) Yes that was exact my problem. I asked because I already did the method you suggest me, but I was hoping that there might be a solution without removing the floor. I try to build the background first then.

Thank you very much!

The problem is that the actual pointer click area for the entire tile is in the bottom left corner (I think). With the Wooden, stone, brick, etc walls, floors, ceilings, etc ... they all have multiple positions that they can be in, and the positions as horizontal floors means there is a gap below, so the pointer will not click on the top tile, only select the bottom tile.

To fix, select the same wooden wall tile from your inventory, as if you were to place a new tile, and right-click on the wooden tile on-screen, and the tile will morph through all the different positions. If you want to select to get the rear tile, morph the front tile into showing a solid tile hiding the rear tile totally, and not a floor, wall or corner tile.

@Luggage I think I dont know what exactly you mean, when I press right click the tile I picked just dissapears again, i just want to build the bagground without removing the foreground because I dont want that the house is temporary no comfort zone

Sorry, I didn't understand you fully either. I thought you meant the front tile that you wanted changed. In any case, what I meant was that it is best to spin through the sprites to what looks like a solid block, and then right-click on the tile, and you can select the front or rear tile.
Maybe this is little clearer ... I spun the stone ceiling tiles into solid blocks, and can now select the front or rear tiles. For the others shown as a thin ceiling line, you can only select the rear tile:

Glad I could help some. Wish there was a way to change blocks behind others more easily as well. Have fun!

You can lay Stone at the back just fine, which is what I did. Otherwise, yeah as far as I can see you need to remove the front tile first to get a Wooden wall behind an existing front Wooden Wall. Which is a total pain if it's actually a floor with stuff on it. It drops to the level below.
