Comfort Calculation
Hey all,

Does anyone know how comfort is calculated? I find that the items do not increase the comfort based on the comfort number.

For example, the Black and White Pennant's comfort is 12. But when I place the first one, it only increases my Comfort from 57 to 59.

When I place the 2nd one, it only increases it by 1.

First thing, the comfort given to y is in percent and the comfort of things is only a number. so my suggestion is: there is number representing 100%...and it shows y in % how much y have reached it....
means like 1000 points is 100%, so when y build something with comfort 10..in dont means y have increased it by 10 %..it just means: 10 out of 1000 is only 1 %... - i think like that it works

It's still confusing because I just added 4 Square Windows that give 5 comfort each.
That should give me a total of 20.

Now assuming that it is some sort of percentage, my Comfort didn't even increase.

how big the area is, is one thing too, second, if there is somewhere a spider or some green plants i dont know how to call them in english your comfort is decreased and is hard to influence....clean your house. and the third thing is, they dont work with comma numbers, i dont know how they round numbers.
like y had 50,0% - adding 20 to the sum and its now 50,9%..i could be that its still show y 50 % until y have something between 51,0-51,9%..

The items as mentioned are based in points.

The totem is based in % of max points that has been filled.

Knowing those 2 things there are many things that affect the point count:
--Furniture: Direct add points (those with comfort points mentioned)
--Space: The bigger the space the more points needed. The star border defines the space a totem(s) connected are calculating.
--Dwarves: The more dwarves you have the more points needed.
--Plants: Those that grow all around the place. This will have a negative affect on the points.
--Cobwebs & monsters: Things like those needle monsters and spiders that are within the house border will have a negative affect on points.
--Lighting: Some have direct influence on points, while the basic ones will calm down other things like those needle demons. Lighting the place up within the house border helps keep those things out, as well slows down the spread of the plants.

There might be more things that affect the points, but those are the major ones I can think of off hand.

Always be sure the things are within the house border (the star line that appears), else they will not count. Also keep in mind the 2 things I mentioned above that make the max total points higher needed; which is dwarf count and space mentioned above.

I hope that helps somewhat, as that is roughly how I go about determining what I need to do, clean up, or even add or subtract just to make comfort at a reasonable level.

Ok thanks all. I was just confused why building 5 nice windows didn't even move 1 point, thinking that there might be a cap on specific items (e.g., windows have a cap of 10 even if you install 100 of them, etc).

The type of walls also counts, I found replacing the walls can affect the result (both positive and negative). I am not sure about the rear material on the borders, but certainly the front material should be a stone or something crafted

Yeah replacing the walls helped heaps.
