Force replace backwall
Hello, so my situtation is I have wooden floors in the foreground and dirtt/stone as a background is there is way of replacing the backwall with a wood wall without destroying the wooden floor first? When I click on it with the wooden wall selected it just changes the floor orientation.

no, unfortunately. The foreground takes priority in this case, since the foreground is already wood. Works well when wanting to put a different material than the foreground, but not if it is the same.

So in this case you will have to break and replace stone/dirt after breaking. Unless you first replace the wood wall with something else. Then replace the material in the back wall first. Then replace the front wall.

Well would be nice to have a feature for same material to be placed in backwall when foreground is is that material. Unfortunately that there isn't.:(

Ah, well that's a shame would be good if there was a button you could press down to force it to do the background. I guess I will have to do it the long way :(

Leafar What I found if you make the wooden wall whole, ie not as a floor or corner piece. When you click on it you get the choice of what you want to replace.

That is the problem. If what was trying to place was a different material that the foreground wall, this would work.

However since the person is trying to place wooden behind, all it will do is change the shape anyhow. Which is the problem.

I just tried it out. I had wood in front of brick. You are correct all I did was change the shape.
I did not know that. Learn something new even after play the game for over 500 hours. :)

yeah, i'm surprised at some of the stuff I seem to learn just from watch a few people play the game; amongst the time that I play. Building is the one thing I know most about the game, not an expert, but know more about it than some of the contraptions and defenses that I've seen people build... :)

It is what I spend the most time on, is building. :D

Would be nice if they added a shift click to prompt for replace the background wall :P so annoying if you forget to replace the background beforehand
try this: select the wooden tile per shortcus, than right click and hold on the first element you want to replace, than pull ypor mouse over the line you want to replace, so you will get a request what you want to replace (hope you untersatnd it's not easy to explain in english ^^)
btw: right click/hold an pull works for multibuild too

You Omega, are a LIFE saver, thank you so much!!!! omg, this saved me so much time! I didn't even know you could multi-job things like this with dragging. I had done it by complete accident once or twice and thought it was just a glitch I somehow managed to do, but couldn't replicate!

Many props good sir, many props!
glad to help you, have fun :-)
