AI still bad?

I read alot about the AI being terrible, is this still the case?
I am pondering to start this game but if the ai is ♥♥♥♥, I'd rather not. :)

I've got 2000+ hours in it, and it's been a bit weird since the last patch. It's perfectly playable, but every now and again they'll be a dwarf that seems to have gotten 'stuck' and you have to take control and then release them, but other than that it's no worse than any other AI in this 'genre'. Hammerting/Ratopia and the dozen dead early-access games I've played in this style all have similar issues, in that verticality and the need to climb seems to be way more complicated than top-down AI.

There's a new DLC coming out 'soon', so I'd advise keeping it on the wishlist and waiting until that's released anyway; there's usually a discount on the base game and there's always a bunch of bug fixes and other tweaks. :)

mmhmm thanks alot, I just loaded it up but there doesnt seem to be a way to have 1 dedicated mining dwarf? so they all randomly do stuff? :)

yep AI is bad....but unless you're playing strongmen challenges aka no respawns or just restart the game if one dwarf dies then you're good to go, be warned...in the portal realm : ice world (where you free the yetis) they will be more braindead than usual - they sit around not collecting, mining or killing stuff at times

BTW: in portal realms when you control the dwarf IT COSTS MANA so be very careful

thanks, but I kinda dipped away from the game. You can give dwarves specific items to for example smith or gather etc, but then random noobs start smithing instead of the guy you completely decked out in smithing stuff.
And absolute shame, why even add those stuff then.

The bad AI is what killed it for me, I just cant bring myself to play it knowing that in the end all the dwarfs will be doing stupid stuff.
