-eliminating all current bugs,
-more quality of life improvements, ie:
-switching between dwarves left and right arrow, not just space,
-mouse scroll in mods menu not working,
-re-assign keyboards shortcuts,
-why can't double mouse click on medkit to heal dwarf to maximum health?
-and more,
-better AI path-finding,
-balancing monster waves in higher difficulties,
-automation for plants crystals, mushrooms, trees, whatever - like u can do in terraria,
-automation for animals too - auto collect eggs, feather, meat, etc.
-automation for harvesting,
-automation for haling dwarves - clicking non-stop on medkit is so annoying
-etc.
I hope one day there will be part 2.
If they don't make a second game the will lose their place as the 2nd best 2D colony management soon. Its oxygen not included that is the best but now there is ratopia and mind over magic as well
This.
I'm ok to do some jobs myself, but all the time ? No go.
Game desperately needs some automation additions, maybe some Imps or robots for the tedious work. This click-hunting of tiny things *everywhere and all the time* makes me quit the game in the long run....
Think the game has grown out of it's initial boundaries, and has to adapt or it will fail at the end by e.g. negative reviews and vanish into oblivion.
-More animal resources and more resources from mining mods helps but still this should be automated.
-The worst are very rare items like mushrooms and crystals - have to scout entire map over and over to find them and click them :(
-Even spawn the trees magic spell doesn't work as I think it should, bcs it spawns random trees and bushes and I use it when I need wood so this is not enough - again some mods helps with spawning more wood.
-Imps from imp houses are great but limited to half the dwarf population size, which is not enough (max 10 imps) so u have to use imp spell all the time, and it is also tedious - I either have 100 od them or none bcs I keep forget about spawning them.
-But I can imagine entire automation DLC and entire QOL DLC before Craft The World 2 ;)
Steam says 235 hours but I think it's wrong, I deffo played more than that, maybe not on Steam.
But u can not seriously say that u enjoy doing same tedious tasks over and over again?
Especially on bigger custom maps this is very annoying and boring :(
But now it has grown and aged - and has to compete directly with games like Oxygen Not Included, Terraria, RimWorld (and 3D variants like Stranded Alien Dawn) and others I forgot to mention.
All of these have some sort of automation for resource gathering/management, which renders the horrible manual driven stuff here obsolete. It's simply a pain compared to more advanced games...
I say go for the gold of making a loosely based squeal, but try and find a newer aspect of gaming it out to throw it against (strategic map, first person ala dungeon keeper, etc...)
Hopefully it's good, but Hammerting was supposed to supplant Craft the World at it's release and look at how badly it managed to be even a good game at the end. :(
That's the reason why I still like the game so much after buying another DLC and another. The first DLC I bought was on 27 juli 2015.
It was just an example. The suggestions thread is over 2100 posts long. It's possible it has already been suggested before, alongside numerous other suggestions that have been ignored for years -- like having the ability to replace "partial" wood/stone/brick/steel walls that aren't a full square, without clicking 2-5 times on each block to turn it back into a square.
It's really just time for a sequel with more modern controls, features, and gameplay elements as the OP stated.
Sequel are ok for story driven game like The Last of Us. But for Craft the World?
No thanks, I'd rather have more contents and more DLCs.
Maybe its just the way I play: but I use the portal spell, instead of lifts and railroads, as it is faster, more efficient and you never really run out of mana.
More ways to increase speed/efficiency of buildings, farming, growing, etc.
All to improve the Dwarven feel, instead of overly relying on magic to make your life easier.
