Better way to get rid of rats?
As if the early game isn't annoying enough, having to constantly watch my base for rat nests popping up while I'm harvesting elsewhere is crazy.. Eventually they just stop spawning sometime after I had 10 guys but holy crap, there has to be a better way.

Yeah this is just ridiculous! I am outside harvesting wood, I keep looking at my house, no rats, no rats, I look away to click again and suddenly a crapton of rats! Too often ... I liken it to the Pets expansion for Sims 2. Next thing I know there are dogs and cats pooping in my yard every few minutes and my sim is out cleaning the yard more than cleaning their house. I feel like I am killing waves of rats more than I am crafting ... in a game called Craft the World. Not Stomp the Rat!

Raise the comfort level of your house.

Once mine reached 50 comfort, I haven't seen a rat since. Of course I haven't play a lot since as this was just yesterday but before that I had them popping up all of the time.

I notice a pile of say pellets (i guess there rats nests) next to my beds, destroyed them and no more rats.
So i'm wondering if thats the key for the rats that keep comming.

The rat pile spawns rats. Once you have your comfort up and all rat piles destroyed they are either rare or don't show up anymore. Won't know which until a rat pile spawns after comfort is above 50.

Although, the rat meat makes for good food early on...

Sure but they also eat any food you have left out.. lol

It looks like, so far, they eat more food than they provide. Not every rat has dropped meat for me, just as not every rat has dropped leather.

I was thinking about setting up a couple bow towers to kill them as they spawn but you have to get to the bow tower first which if it is based off comfort, I'm already at above 50 by the time I get to that..

You can use traps.

I have also found that if I cover every available space on the floor of my house the rats don't show up. At least they haven't yet.

Now that's interesting.. I don't use above ground houses.. I wonder if it's only for underground houses. I wonder if I put traps down and it kills them if they drop the meat.

Yes, I think they do drop stuff (when they do, they don't always) and yes they do spawn inside houses of wood, stone or whatever.
