There are a few items in game that have no discernible use, which means they're probably still working out recipes to use them in. (dragon eggs and honey are two other examples that come to mind)

Tallow can be eaten just like cones, so put it on a table and let your little bearded maniacs gobble it alllllll up.
Yes I think real Tallow is used for candles and shortening(cooking) even soap. I hope we get new recipes for that.

Tallow is the fat; grissle; tendons of an animal. The dwarves will eat it, like cones, yes, but if you watch carefully, they will let you know they do not like it at all.

I don't know if it's changed in recent patches, but my little guys got to the point they'd rather starve than eat it.

As long as you give them some food variety the dwarves will eat the tallow and not complain. Putting the tallow, and cones, out saves you from constantly having to cook up a lot of new food; like humans, the dwarves like variety. Just don't put out all of your beer, that will disappear in seconds, greedy ....

Yes thanks. I know too well about the beer(and tea)! I will give them beer or tea after a hard fight with a guardian though :) I think I'll put out some tallow today and see what happens.
