Skills empty, books aren't working

Every time I try to use a book, I get a warning showing skills are already full, however they show "empty" when I'm equiping my guys. Have restarted a few times, son also bought the game and is having the same issue, both after a few hours of gameplay. Please help.

Same problem here.
We are starting a multi-player game.
My buddy is hosting.

He clicks on books, use, gets the message he cannot get the skill.
Any book. Any dwarf. All of his dwarves are skillless.

I can use books and get skills with no problem.


None of us have mods.

I have this same issue, any resolution? No mods, fresh install, tried restarting with no luck.

Same here, single player, no mods. Happened to my old saved game and also to new games. Dwarves show up with no name at all in old save, and "Who am I" as the name for all of them in the new one.

i had this issue yesterday first time ever playing. restarted the game and it fixed it.

I've played before but it's been some time and never had problems like this. Reinstalled today and now my dwarves, who are brand new and have three empty slots, cannot use skill books. There is a warning that my dwarf either has no empty slots or is already a master of the skill. Strange to see this bug at this time. I just bought and added the grotto DLC for the first time, that is the only thing that has changed since the last time I played.

Yeesh. I closed the game, checked file integrity which appeared to be fine, and restarted. Books now work. Weird because I checked file integrity after install, which I've been in the habit of doing for some time. I guess the restart fixed it but that is so odd......
