A hard teammate never seems up to par with a hard AI opponent
I tried that. I gave my ally the turtle personality, and he literally did not build one turret. I had to do it for him...
The main strategy of Brutal AI is just drowning you in superior numbers, especially in the early game, with low tech units. I've never seen them intelligently send units, just units that completely coincidentally have some advantage over mine.
If you want to play against Brutal, a good way to do so is to play with 40,000 starting credits. Having such a large starting amount more than evens out against the cheats the Brutal AI has, because at the end of the day, it is still a stupid AI given cheats.
You should have no problem beating Brutal AI with 40,000 starting credits, and I find Hard AI is just too boring because it is shackled by stupid decisions and a fair playing field.
