Solved: Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath / Tiberium Wars no sound
Just bought these oldies only to find that I couldn't get the audio playing. The solutions I found here and elsewhere didn't work. After some tinkering, finally figured out the issue: In my case, I was using bluetooth speakers. Realised that the speakers were configured as 2 devices, headphones as well as a hands-free set, which somehow prevented both games from identifying the right device and led to the sound issue.

So the solution was to go into Device Manager, and disable the hands-free device / capability of the bluetooth speakers. The previous solution to set your speakers to be the Default Device is still required. Alternatively, just disable all other audio devices except the one that you need. Hope it helps someone. Oh and this is on Windows 10.

Definitely bookmarking this discussion for future reference, as this seems to be a common issue; nice job! :steamhappy:

(From Reddit User): "I just disconnected my headphones and reconnected them while it was starting up to fix the issue" - This works. I turned off my bluetooth headphones, waited till T-Wars was at its main menu and then turned the BT headphones back on.

Yep - THANK YOU. The key was disabling the Hands Free Device in Device Manager under Sound Devices for my apple airpods.

So I left the Stereo Airpods ENABLED
But DISABLED Hands Free Airpods

My sound crapped out at this point, BUT THEN I restarted my computer

On Reboot the stereo airpod sound kicked back in and worked and now I have ingame sound!

THANK YOU! :gordon:

Disabling Hands free did not work here.

You can also launch services.msc through the executor (windows key+R) and relaunch Bluetooth audio gate way service after launching the game then go back to the game. You have to disable the handsfree bleutooth device in the sound manager (not volume mixer) but you don't have to disable it through device manager that way, nor do you have to reboot

yo, just figured out that in Windows 11 you'll have to do that and go to System > Sound > then scroll down to audio input > choose the handsfree option and disallow apps and Windows from using it as well

windows 10 has this feature also, so in conclusion, Yes you can do this with Windows 10 if you want a safer option or ur just lazy as f---
Couldn't get the deactivate one to work but turning off my wireless headset and then back on after the game had booted up fixed it.
