Gray Zone Warfare

Prone
there is almost zero reason to go prone in this game since most engagements are within 100m and its a great way to get yourself blasted, instead prone should allow for longer aiming periods without fatigue but the current implementation arms get tired just as fast as crouched. there should be some tactical applications to being prone since you are giving up almost all movement for a lower profile and sharper shooting (which is not true in this game)

AI detection of you once active is off the charts high, they may not see through bushes but they certainly perceive your position a bit to high but I digress

there also needs to be a combat roll (like in arma) to facilitate getting behind cover when things go sideways.

its nice that prone is in the game but lets not make it a useless feature. so no real benefits are currently in the game for any player being prone.

Be careful. Not that it will make you fall through the world or put you in a coma.

Tactical advantageous positions are a death trap, sticking out your head marks the only spot an enemy can hit you and they will hs you, even though it suppose to be an advantage. Like looking down from height or sticking your head around the corner.
Same goes for laying prone, it should be an advantage but it makes your head be the only target they'll hit, instant hs.
It's the opposite of what realism should be like..

Only time I've used prone is to get to my body if it is near AI and in bushes. Works for those cases at least.

I haven't really tried crawling into positions do they see you all the same?

crouch and prone both drastically alter detection distance, but all that goes out the window the moment you fire
if sneaking,it works, but they will laser focus on you the moment you fire, currently

I think that's because the AI have 2 states, slumber (where they will react to a noise if within a certain radius) and active. there is no suspicious state or investigating noise state. its 0 or 1.

its really immersion breaking when you make 1 noise and all the AI yell at the same time... along with the amazing eye sight through bushes... don't get me wrong as I do like the game but the honey moon is over.

they should really tune the parameters of the AI so they don't snap to your location when you are concealed instead they should be investigating that area where continued fire will then automatically alert them to your general location not instantaneous snap.

and they really should try and get them off this hive mind mentality, its fine to have then as groups and squads but because 1 AI knows your location not every AI in that locale should also know your location.

they also have an uncanny ability to track your movement, if you disengage (without noise) they shouldn't be able to intersect your course and start shooting at you through foliage.

Well, to be honest, that's also true in real life. Everyone within 4-500 meters is gonna react to you firing a gun. While the AI seems a bit too good at finding your exact position, I can't say there is any problem with them reacting to a gun shot. It's only natural.
Chameleon_Silk Jun 25, 2024 @ 10:44pm
the issue is they know the exact bush you are concealed in, when there are 100 other bushes nearby that you could actually be in.

also if we are going to talk realism the first thing anyone does besides returning fire is seeking cover, as is the AI will snap to you guns up and move not to cover but sideways a bit before unloading on the bush your in.

it would be nice to see the AI in a panic state, they just seen their friend get shot in the face, they might panic and instead of returning fire try and get to some cover to protect them from the direction of the gunfire.

rather then be a stance thing based on range to target (and if you are holding sneak key) it should be a concealment thing, not moving should increase your concealment factor. someone with a flash hider sitting in a bush shouldn't be so easy to isolate even if you know the general direction of a gunshot. that's my 2 cents.

0.o i said it was about them knowing your exact location
not sure why you had the "no,actually" moment just to repeat what i said said about a specific issue

then I just had a mission where I literally rope a doped them and they didn't see me through stuff.... i'll see if i can upload the clip, they are clearly shooting at where they think I am versus where I really am, this is without any hard cover.

The only problem I have with prone is the fluidity of it. Getting up is a clunky mess at times and feels bad and equals death a lot of the time.

here's the clip of them failing to see me.

prone should have a pretty deliberate delay or it could be abused in PvP by drop shotting I don't think anyone wants that.

One thing is for certain though - in combat if you lay down in this game your asking to be killed :P
Prone does drastically decrease arm stamina drain. I can hold my rifle up for about 24 seconds while standing. Prone, I haven't timed, but at least forty seconds.

It's dangerous though because you have no armor protection except for your helmet. If a round hits you from the front and you're prone, it'll bypass any body armor you're wearing as it rips through your neck/shoulders and goes into your torso.
