M700 should be better. That said Mosin Sniper is very good in the hands of someone who can use it well. It got me all the way to level 7. Nice part with the Mosin is you don't really care if you lose one.

I have the modern version of the mosin with 10 round mag that you can build with Lvl2 from Artisan. I will play more with it today to compare was curious what others thought..

Statistically speaking the Mosin's ammunition has a higher velocity, and should have better range because of it. LPS and SR both fly around 865-880 meters per second, while M80 for the M700 is just over 830 meters per second. That speed is negligible and either should get the job done unless you're distance shooting beyond 2 map grids.

Welp I don't think it matters anymore. Just shot a guy in the head from about 50yds with the mosin and it didn't faze him. Then shot a guy in the chest from 100yd and dropped him instantly. Gun play is so inconsistent and broken.

mosin has worse eye relief but better (or atleast faster to unlock) AP ammo

m700 has better eye relief and is probably slightly more accurate and faster

Mosin i think more accessible because you unlock pu scope pretty early and its effective.

Im liking the Modern Mosin that I built but with the gun play being so jank right now its hard to say which is better to be honest. I just put a 5 rounds into a guy with no armor and they didnt drop. Its so inconsistent.

M700 can have a much lower MOA than the mosin.

My M700 has an MOA of 0.61, my Mosin has an MOA of 1.47, making the M700 the best long range sniper option having more than twice the accuracy.

I just tested it in the starter town and it dropped everything with headshots.

I believe it as I had the same results when it is properly working. Still inconsistent overall.

Could be lag related theres a lot of that atm so its hard to hit anything properly.

Remember these rifles have MOA ratings. Where you aim isn't, necessarily, where you hit. So you can hit the head and miss the brain.

At 400 yards the Mosin can hit anywhere within 6 inches of point of aim.
At 400 yards the M700 can hit anywhere within 2.5 inches of point of aim.

The farther the distance, the greater the disparity. The Mosin is good for about 600 yards, which is plenty given the landscape of this game, but if you were trying for head shots at 400 yards, 6 inches off can be a complete miss.

Edit: here's some info if you want to learn more about MOA:
