Key Items blend too much into the terrain
An issue with the updated graphics, and the new 3D models for all the items:

A) New items are TOO SMALL compared to the classic 2D sprites. I couldn't even see the unreachable medikit in the Midas level until I switched over, but it's even worse with key items.

B) The lighting and coloration of many key items blend WAY too much with the terrain, making them almost impossible to see in some cases.

I'm on Tomb of Tihocan right now, in the room with the 4 pressure plates on the floor, and the key in the room with the large Medikit after the chomping blades, and I had to SCOUR for it, before just switching over to old graphics to find it, as I didn't remember where the key was.

It is NIGHT AND DAY the difference visual queues, which are hella important in this game, are to miss in the new graphics. I've been playing TR1 with a walkthrough since it's the game I'm least familiar with of the trilogy, but it's a struggle to even find the things I know should be there. I find myself having to constantly switch back and fourth, and at some points, I feel like it would just be easier to play the game with old graphics and just forgo the new graphics.

It's true but it's level dependant as well. Like the old ghraphics being too bright is only an issue in the first two levels. Key items blending in is only an issue in Lost Valley, Cistern and the tomb after it etc. So it's an issue easily missed but it's an issue none the less... (only played the first TR so far so I can't comment on how this is in later games)

And yes if I think I miss something I do switch to old graphics and spot it easily there. The response will be: "well switch the ugly exclamation point thingy on" but that's cheating... (at least to me)

YEAH lets make them 10 times bigger, lets add shimmering and shining, so you can see hidden object mile ahead in game where EXPLORATION and OBSERVATION is the key point!

Also lets make all levels bright, lets make them linear, lets put invisible walls everywhere, lets make only special object climable and lets paint them with white color! Also lets remove tombs or make them optional and lets add more action!

And lets turn old good immersive and realistic Tomb Raider into new YOBA (YOUTH ORIENTED BRAINLESS APPROVED) tomb raider 2013, that can be finished even by trained monkey!

Dude, seriously, go play recent Dumb Raider 2013 trilogy by Crystal Dynamics, they are surely more suitable for you than classic if you dont get the point of game and have no observation and exploration skills!

Honestly, they improved remaster over original and made it even more realistic and challenging! i dont want this to get ruined because someone is unable to observe and explore in a game where its the main thing to do.

What are you talking about? They are perfectly visible!

Lol I had to squint to see this. Yes, this is exactly what I'm talking about. It is practically invisible with the modern graphics appearance.

Tell me you have zero reading comprehension without telling me you have zero reading comprehension. Look at the screenshot from the dude I quoted. THAT is what I am referring to, you brainlet. Turning on classic graphics makes that EASIER to see. The problem isn't "I want easy mode for hidden items". It's "The 3D objects and lighting effects make the objects clearly visible in the OG graphical style practically invisible".

Grow up. Learn to read. I played these classics when they were NEW on Playstation and on PC. The problem isn't the game. It's the updated graphics making the items in the game not representative of how they were depicted in the originals.

I had the same problem on Colosseum where the last key completely blended into the gray tile it was on. If I didn't switch to the classic graphics I wouldn't have noticed it. If they made the pickup items a bit brighter that'd give them some contrast, in classic graphics the sprites are much easier to spot. It doesn't help that the remastered lighting is much more dim to begin with.

this question is not an opinion, I have excellent eyesight, the keys are simply not visible, in addition to being too small, it can also be added to this if the color of the floor texture is similar to that of the key
as far as I'm concerned, it's a real bug

I agree

+1 same is true some ammo i think by in the tomb of tihocan in the sewers sort of... one of the secrets have to being obtained BEORE water flow...ok but some tiles are not as visible in "" as the older graphics...and so some ammos. Shotgun are ok and weirdly sometimes shine a bit ? (Lara too in some case i think to some moments in Lost Valleay by ex.. not always the case of course but sometimes you can CLEARLY see a difference).

For magnums clips the same a bit smaller and say not as distinguish line on the clip.

I have notice also (until now i mean)

( In Egypt City of Khamoon near the cat statue there is a statue in the corner of Pharaon ok in older graphics yes...but ! In modenr one it just is not visible just the shadow (a secret is near of it also for make you localize where it is).

It hppen in main game i notice not in the UB extansion there the stature is well render in modern graphics and classic one. Not the case in main game weirdly.

In TR2 in Uzi hideout you could clearly see a wrong floor texture , not water one.... (in older render yes it's water )

The sound is water in modern grpahics and Lara ' move in. But it's floor texture

Same that acheviemnts are buggdd at leats for tr2 it's 100% sure.

Yes key items blending to textures is a thing worse in the remasters and they should fix it.

Spent an hour looking for this stupid thing :(

Thanks for the mod link
