The environments are made with like, 5 polygons
I understand this is a remaster and not a remake, but for $35 CAD they could surely do a better job? Even Lara herself doesn't look THAT much improved. The model they used in Anniversary looks much more detailed.

Pretty sure you understand (others have already explained it even better) that these games were designed around the blocky nature of the environments. Gameplay is essentially grid-based platforming and jumping between blocks, no different from what you would do in games like the SNES Mario Bros (except for the blocks being 3D).

They can't remake the scenarios so they're no longer made of big 3D blocks because that would also imply big gameplay changes. They can improve lightning and textures since those are just visual effects that have no impact on the movement/gameplay.

What? For real? It's $35 CAD up North here. You must be referring to the original TR and not the remaster.

They're also just using ai textures for all of it. It's pathetic

For real??? Do we have source to validate this?

¿¿?? Did you played the originals? The enhacements of the remaster are quite obvious. Maybe you were expecting a remake?

Is like Resident Evil 4.

Tomb Raider 1 - Resident Evil 4 (2005)
Tomb Raider 1,2,3 Remaster - Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD (2014)
Tomb Raider Anniversary - Resident Evil 4 reimagination (2023)

Yeah, you use your eyes and look at the textures. They make no sense. The snowy rocks have snow sitting on the bottom of them, the brick walls have that ai painted effect on some parts where it struggles to figure out what to put there.

this is all ai generated.

You made it sound like they stole someone's texture pack
Well the way AI works, they basically did.
The fact they're trying to sell this for 30 dollars when the textures are AI generated is disgusting. There's no work or passion there and it's an insult to the original trilogy.

But there are more than textures, Looks that most of the objects (enemies, traps, dynamic and decorative props) have been remodeled. The lightning of the levels has been overhauled and some other enhacements related to controls, camera, fps and extra features.

This looks like it's going to be a nice update of those games (remember that TR1 currently needs to be played with an emulator and still crashes a lot on modern computers, so this iteration with the enhaced textures and models looks like it will be the best version of that game).

"Where are the giant triangles? Are they safe? Are they alight?"
Tomb raider's gameplay relies on a grid system so the blocky nature of the environments are somewhat necessary. They actually mean something in terms of gameplay. If you smoothed out the terrain, you would break the game. It's the reason most people don't get the controls, too. They've added plenty of decoration that wasn't there before, improved the lighting and meshes, and all of the character models which there are a lot of in 3 games worth of enemies and objects. Those window trimmings in Venice don't seem like a lazy job to me. They used to be just flat textures.

I've always said that the biggest issue with tomb raider is that so many people don't really understand it. That's mostly thanks to the way Eidos marketed the thing. It's a deeper game than the vast majority give it credit for. Give it a chance, and approach the game on its terms. It's worth it.

Im talking about this new release, thought everybody knew the trick to get very cheap games, went viral a couple of years ago.

Around here, most expensive game is max 10 us dollars, except for the most new and hyped AAA games, that sometimes can be 20 us dollars

Using a VPN to take advantage of other country's lowest exchange rate? Pretty sure you can get banned for that, I wouldn't risk doing that on my account.
