Try running simcity 4 in compatibility mode for XP service pack 3 a friend of mine couldnt play the game but once he set the compatibiity mode it worked flawlessly.
Just let them think they are old school superior
Oh, but I do unterstand that what you are saying is trash and quite obviously uninformed parroting. I have introduced Windows 8 to several people and they all made the switch from Windows 7 because they liked Windows 8 more and still do. Even people with half a brain should be able to see that the new Metro UI is an additional interface, not THE inferface of Windows 8 and that the desktop is still there and even improved in some areas. The lack of a start button is debateable, but there a free tools to bring it back. And don't tell me "I don't want to install tools for features I like", because that's what everybody does anyway for lots of other things they want to have. But I guess hating Windows 8 is just as "rational" as keeping the imperial system instead of switching to the metric one.
BTW, don't try to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm self-employed in IT and journalism and have even worked as IT support for a games developer in England for some years.
They surely can't say that they need to revamp the whole darn computer operating system every couple of years and tell us it's that much better now can they?
I know it's a business but it's pretty much a monopoly business since most of all PCs made come preloaded with a MS operating system.
Anyways, I know I don't jump on the band wagon and buy every darn new DOS that comes out, only when my old computer finally had it and I buy a new one. But when you look at it, I guess I do end up buying into this system cause I do end up buying them eventually. I have copies of every MS operating system all the way back to DOS in a box, and it's getting pretty full.
I rather throw my PC out of my window then install that tablet kiddie color OS on my machine.
I'm playing SimCity4 on Win8 without any Problems... :)
Try windows 7, better then vista.
And, nope, I am not WinBot V.2013. I tried Win8 and got back to Win7. It had nothing to do with SC4. I just hated of the functionality and feeling that came from semiOS devoted for shopping and (useles solutions of) entertainment.
Every problem or solution for SC4 I found would have been there with Win7 as well. Any SC4 related argument between Win7 and Win8 are (IMO) useles. I am well aware that some SC4 utilities might work better with Win8 - and some may not -, but this thread was not about modding SC4.
OP, SC4 works with Windows 8. You likely have another problem wiht the game.
