i guess be very cautious before modding game!

also at the speed that things are happening we will have official answer soon as to what they are going to do, since some modder already created offline mode and other mods are popping up already that fix the things that officials said could not be done.

by the way the offline mode is just editing one variable, its a timer of how long to allow player to play without checking whether they are online, at present 20 minutes! so its all pack of lies from EA/Maxim.

i'll post links to mods as i find them

there appears to be an offline mod already!

with editing highways outside boundaries

and full debug mode

and that removes the fudging of population count

more mods to come

right now its a little primitive, but it will get better

EA is stupid if they don't allow modding. It's the only way the game can be made playable because it's so broken right now. The community of modders will be several times larger than whatever programmers EA assigns to the task so they can get more done. Plus if the mods don't work or are buggy, EA doesn't have to take responsibility.

The Sims3 is half what it is without mods. Actually, Sims3 is so buggy and full of bad programming that it becomes nearly impossible to play after the 3rd generation without mods. But the community is so big that they've fixed most of the issues and made the game what it was supposed to be. Without mods, SimCity2013 is done for.

So in short EA is giving Maxis the developers the bird and saying "NO ♥♥♥♥ YOU ITS OUR PRODUCT NOW"

Maxis is at least partly to blame for this fiasco. They must have agreed with EA's vision of what the game should be like.

EA won't allow it. They will walk in, and announce that if anyone is caught with mods on their game, their Origin accounts will be BANNED. So not only will you have to create a new account, but you will also have to pay again for your games.

what i would like to see is the removal of boundrys but the retaining of starting points so the citys will grow and then meld into each other over time , like in reality which i belive is what EA was going for. it would also be kind of fun watching several mayors working together to build and run a mega city.

that said i also want their to be a great work that produces infinate amounts of water.

I'd rather see working traffic, working city services like police, fire, and waste removal. The mechanics are the most important part of a city builder like SimCity, it's why SimCity 4 is so good, the modders have been working on it and improved the mechanics so that it functions well.
