U-drive missions: how NOT to get caught by cops, anyone?

There's a couple u-drive missions where you must not get caught by cops. I seem to fail these missions constantly - I'll be driving around and all of the sudden (and seemingly randomly) the 'lol u fail' screen will pop up.

Does anyone have any idea how not to fail that? I've had this game for probably ~8 years but never really figured it out. But I really want that 70k.

(Side note: u-drive missions seem to be rather bugged: they don't seem to deduct any money (but only deduct, sucessful missions -> money) nor do they seem to have any effect on major rating)

Play grand theft auto or use punching bag. U can always deploy robots and volcanos on our beloved sims.

Pause.

Then look at distance to edge of map and distance to nearest cop cars.

Make sure you have a beeline to the outside of the city.

Some of the mission just seem broken. Some are very straight forward, with clear objectives and obstacles, while others seem that way but also just spontaneously fail sortly after starting. If I fail a mission for no apparent reason, I'll try it a couple more times, and if it still doesn't make sense then I just don't bother with that mission any more. If you want good sim-city missions though, get Sim Copter. Sim Copter rocks.
