Aspyr releases update for SimCity 4
Aspyr, one of the companies that ports Windows games to OS X, has re-released SimCity 4, which is now available on the Mac App Store. It does implement SteamWorks, and you will probably need to buy SimCity 4 Deluxe again.

Will SteamPlay be added? I don't know, but I do hope.

Yes.. and I wonder if current owners get the Mac app automatically or they will release a standalone version.

I'm hoping they'll put an update into Steam so that you can run it on OS X if you already own it on Steam. I love this game, and my MacBook runs things so much more smoothly than my sub-par Windows laptop.

They will - "and the game will join Steam and other Mac digital outlets in coming weeks." (Valve does not allow putting separate versions of the game for different systems so that means it will be free for the owners of SimCity 4 Deluxe). I don't think there's another game that is split up like that on the Steam store. Part of that may be due to Ryan Gordon (a porter to OS X and Linux) did shame it on Twitter.

That and sales were probably pretty poor on the OS X-only version.

Where the heck did you mined that number?
Last disk copy version for SimCity 4 Deluxe is 1.1.638.
Last digital copy version for SimCity 4 Deluxe is 1.1.641.

If you already own the game on Steam you should be able to just now install it on Mac. Restart your Steam browser if it's not coming up. :) Mine appeared after a restart.
