Possible to activate with original CD key?
I bought SimCity Deluxe ages ago, I have the original CD with the CD key, is there a way I can 'register' my copy with Steam so it appears in my library and is updated/downloaded by Steam? Everytime I get an itch to play this game, I have to dig out my CD, install it, update it, then I can play. Be a lot nicer to have it in my Steam library.

I spoke with EA Support and they say they cannot register a game purchased from them, here on Steam. They did offer to register my game with their service, but I told them no, I want it on Steam or don't bother. So I guess I have to buy it again or something. Pretty lame EA.

Origins and Steam are competitors. EA realy isn't keen to let Steam to activate any of their product, that is not already included.

You might have noticed the lack of EA's new products here. These two digital distribution platforms and companies behind them really don't play along.

If you can, you can download it to your commputer just as an application, then go into your Steam library and down on the bottom left it should give you an option to just add that application? So then you can launch it from steam and take screenshots, acess the community etc.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Devin. What I was looking for was having it actually in my Steam library so I don't have to update it manually and stick in my CD to play it. Yes I know there are fixes for the latter, but I was hoping to avoid that.
