SimCity 4 Deluxe

Crash on startup
When I try to play the game using my copy from the Simcity Box, when I run the game it just does nothing! I am on Windows 10 and using the Simcity 4 launcher if that helps.

How do you have your launcher configured?

(I use this launcher: http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/28667-sc4launcher-with-auto-saving-for-simcity)

Also, see here, just in case you haven't, yet: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=279736936&insideModal=1

There are several things you can try.

1) Make sure the Launcher is running in Administrator Mode. (Right click on the launcher, choose Compatibility options, check "Run as Administrator." Just right-clicking and choosing Administrator Mode from that menu is only a run-once command and may not allow the launcher full permissions to execute other programs.)

2) Try different rendering options in the launcher. Also, limit the CPU to 1 and disable the intro video if you get a crash when it plays. Set SC4 to "High Priority" in the Launcher, as well.

I don't have Win10 and until it becomes more commonplace and people work with it more, there might not be a solution easily available. Be patient. :)

Also, see this: http://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/68665-windows-10-problem-reporting-thread/

Many people report that SC4 runs fine under Windows 10 on their machine, across all versions. (Steam, Origin, GoG, CD-Rom) So, it may just be a matter of fiddling with your settings.
Any disk version of the game will have issues with Windows 10 apparently because Windows 10 doesn't like old copy protection methods:

So if the launcher doesn't work your best bet would probably be to purchase the game here on Steam :(

Worse suggestion as Origin sucks ass :P

It even requires you to FIRST log in to their servers BEFORE you can Go offline. What if you live somewhere where internet is a bit shaky. Which is why Steam is lightyears better than Origin.

Plus Origin's copy of SC4 isn't even fully patched to the latest required patch level for mods such as the NAM (patch 1.640) whereas the one here on Steam is.

With Origin I can just buy a game, make a shortcut on my desktop then forget about Origin. I also need to call an exorcist for my computer after using it.

As far as I know, this is no longer true. The Origin version was, strangely enough, the last version to be updated. However, it was updated and is now current as of Sep/Aug of last year.

IF one has a CD/Boxed version, one can get a free SC4 digital copy from Origin.

And how can I do this?

I have several games on Origin because of their "On The House" program which essentially gives you a free game. The hell will I ever buy games on Origin seeing as they A. Don't reciprocate prices of games per region and B. They only accept sales by Electronic Banking, both of which Steam does effectively.

Also some of the games I got on there that do no require constant internet access (mostly PopCap games) won't run in offline mode and keeps pesterring me to log into my HorrdGin account which as I said doesn't let you log into offline mode WITHOUT FIRST logging on to go offline, whereas steam doesn't :P
