High density commercial buildings how?
One of my greatest blunders in Sim city is my failure to turn a high desnity commercial building into a skyscraper. Can anyone please help me with this?

  • Keep the high end commercial area small and thigh. They enjoy the company of each other and shy from getting spread out.

  • High end office buildings will benefit from funcitonal base economy. Use light and medium zoning around the city to spread out first and then concentrate on creating functional and good looking high density CBD area after that.

  • They will benefit from traffic noise, but shy away from high pollution and crime.

  • Use plazas around commercial areas. Get creative and make them look good. Well planned plazas in the middle of skyscrapers will look good and interesting in any case. If you wish, you can use Network Addon Mod pedestrian lots among them and connect them with public transportation lots (bus lots, train stations, etc.), so they will look alive and sims will divide more easily around the area.

  • Parking garages and custom parking lots help a lot, as do public transportation lots. As said above, traffic noise is beneficial to these buildings, so letting sims to get close to them by car or a bus is a good idea. Also, you can more easily create traffic solutions to solid lots, instead of buildings that may change suddenly.

  • Neighbour connections with roads and rails will grow the demand. Use them a lot. Airport - or helicopter and transportation lots from airport packs - will grow the demand a lot as well. Building skyscrapers is very hard without them.

  • They will benefit from high education.

  • Connected city tiles share the demand. Concentrate the Central Business District to one tile (at least at first), but allow neighbour tiles create demand for high end skyscrapers, without attempting to build them there. Highest commercial buildings are actually quite rare, in both game and RL, so you will need a high demand for them to appear.

Yeah. I forgot to mention landmarks.

Although, I wouldn't personally get close to Llama building. That must be the ugliest BAT Maxis ever made. I have constantly considered of getting back to SC4 and doing some relotting work to it. :p
You need to play several linked cities on an entire Region before you can start growing Skyscrapers.

If however you just want to play on one city tile then you'll need to use a demand inflator mod.
This world is terrible without people like you guys.
