Windows 11 Compatibility
Hi all, I’d love to give this one a go on my legion 5 gaming laptop, although, I’ve seen a lot of negatives about this game, in terms of only being able to run on 1 core, resolution issues, crashing issues, etc. Just want to confirm that I will be able to run this just fine, without any mods and all.

Thanks a lot!

I am on Windows 11 myself and I can assure you that you CAN run this game fine WITHOUT issues, provided you do some prep work for it.

Yes the game runs only on one CPU because it was created during an era, 2004, when computers only had one CPU core.

As for said prep work, you DO NOT need mods to fix this as simply opening the game's shortcut and editing its "Target Path" address by adding -CPUVount:1 is enough to ensure that the game will just run on one CPU core eliminating most of the crash to desktop issues you can encounter from playing. Mods just make it easier as you'll just need to plop a mod or two for the game and most if these issues will be dealt with for you.

For more information I suggest you go to Simtropolis.com and register for a free account as you'll find more helpful folk on there than here on the Steam forums as Simtropolis has been around for as long as the game has.

I basically copy-pasted the following start-up settings recommended by someone on a different thread:

-d:soft -intro:off -CPUCount:1 -f -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32

Worked well enough for me running a Win11 Dell Laptop

The game runs fine. You might have to do some preparation as noted above, but this may not be necessary - I have played this game in multiple Win 10 and 11 devices without issues and without adding any launch modifiers.
