Space Port & Grand Train Station in Vanilla

I finally managed to build a Space Port in my Vanilla Game, now there´s only one building I have never been able to build in my region I am playing in since 2003: The Grand Train Station - is it possible to get that without using mods?

The Grand Railroad Station is a "Civic Reward Building". Requires a combined (regional?) Residential and Commercial population > 172,000 AND at least one "near full capacity" Small Rail Station in the city where you want the Grand Railroad Station. Unless you are willing to use the ctrl-x cheat line to enter you don't deserve it.

I was referring to the civic reward building that comes with the vanilla version of the game a.k.a. the Grand Railroad Station (I play in German, so i wasn´t sure about the correct English term). Since I have several cities that fullfill the requirement I was wondering if the reward for the station is bugged.
I was very surprised when the civic reward for the space port appeared because I already had more than 25.000 industrial population.

I do not believe that I, myself, ever actually met the natural conditions to unlock the Grand Railroad Station. My play style is to "plan ahead": so any Small Rail Station, regardless of whether it was a "Passenger" or "Freight" station, would have alternatives to relieve the congestion by the time any such reached 50% of capacity! ... I never did reach enough industrial trips to upgrade a seaport, nor commercial trips to upgrade an airport.

Note: for transit Stations - the number of trips going through any station is what counts against that stations capacity. TMI?

By design all population goals should be against the Regional Population; but there seem to be a few that the vanilla game will limit to a particular city's population.

Due to Google it seems to be nearly impossible to get the last building without modding/using cheats.

Indeed there are some bugs that may prevent the Spaceport or Grand Railway Station (3 track station) from unlocking. You can work around them by pressing CTRL+X then typing

you don't deserve it

into the cheat menu, which temporarily unlocks all the rewards. Otherwise, see here for some community fixes:

I have thought about the cheatcode some time ago, but dismissed the idea; it just doesn´t feel right after playing for so long. I even had the NAM-addon installed about more than 10 years ago, but was overwhelmed and confused because of its many new possibilities, so I stayed with vanilla.
