Don't know how to add new regions to the game

I want to download new regions but I can't figure out for the life of it how to do it. I went to Simtropolis, downloaded many different regions but honestly have no idea how to make any of them work, as just putting them in the folder where the regions are located doesn't seem to do the trick.

For a long time after the game was released, the sheer size of pre-rendered regions simply made it unthinkable to allow users to share them for downloading. As a result, most regions you might download are in a special SC4M format, which require a special Application to render them on your PC for use with the game.

You will need either SC4 Mapper (Simplest):

Either application can open the SC4M files and convert them into a working region you can then use in SC4. Note you'll need an account for the LEX file exchange to download these apps.

If you need help with these apps, you'll get plenty of support at either SC4D or Simtropolis, but there isn't much of an active community here on Steam.

Also a word of warning these programs suffer what is known as DLL Dependency Hell and as a result they can be hard to get working I made a guide[community.simtropolis.com]on how to fix it for another program that has a similar problem.

Mind, that when you add maps that way, you need to add all the trees aswell, I recommend a tree controller for that.
