how do I install mods/maps on SC4 for mac?

The same way you do for a PC. You simply download the content and place it into the Plugins (mods/addons) or Regions (maps) folders. I don't know where SC4 sets these folders up by default, but I'd look inside your user documents, I presume Mac has something like that?

All SC4 content works regardless of Windows/Mac etc. The problem is, many mods are bundled into Windows Installers, which simply don't work on Macs. Some content includes "Mac" versions, just in zip files. Otherwise, an application like FileJuicer (paid), will allow you to extract most installers into the component files.
