Hi everyone, I have a big problem, I have owned sims city 4 for many years in the disk version, I played it a lot since I was a kid, now I still have the game but having a pc with win 10 I can't get it started, I'm sorry. obviously I tried to start it with the windows combatability, but he doesn't want to start, what can I do? premise the game has no key for steam or origin, since the game is old (I don't know if it can be useful but I have the Italian version) I thank you in advance for the answers, I help you

Have you tried starting the file as an admin? It works for some old PC ROM games but I'm not sure for this one in particular. I have the disc version but picked up a digital copy on GOG when I upgraded to Windows 10 a few years ago. GOG has greater stability for old games. Also try adding the Large File Warning in the INI file (I think. Google it to be sure) so the game can use more than 2 GB of RAM

If you get it on GOG (or here) you would need to play for it again and I may be mistaken about the Large File Warning in this particular game. In general or allows 32 bit applications to access 4 GB of RAM instead of only 2, which makes everything work better on modern hardware. Disc versions of most games are blocked by Windows in order to prevent a security flow with the PC ROM file type, so you may be out of luck (I never got my disc working). I wish you luck in looking for mods or compatibility loopholes (like Run as Administrator) in order to get your disc working.

You will probably need to use a no-cd crack from a website like gamecopyworld because the SafeDisc system that simcity 4 uses doesn't work properly on win10. But after you apply the crack you cant update the game anymore so do your update work and bring the game to version 1.1.640 (final update for disk version) and the apply the no-cd crack. After you do all this it should work perfectly.

I thank you for the answer, but in the end I solved, in practice I read in the forums that some have contacted the EA saying to have the wrong key (since the game is old) and testifying through photos and the old key give you the game on origin, in fact so I did and now I have the deluxe edition

For anyone still having the same issue with their physical copy, when a game doesn't boot normally on windows 10 the 640x480 compatibility option usally works 95% of the time.

No disk version of SC4 is capable of working on Windows 10. Microsoft removed the drivers needed to validate the on-disk DRM (Safedisc) from the OS. They subsequently removed it for Windows Vista through 8.1 versions too, via a Windows update. The difference being those O/S's can use workarounds to restore the driver, Windows 10 can't.

The simple solution is to get a digital version of the game, but of course that means paying again, unless Origin will give you a free copy. Beware though, Origin have been supplying unpatched editions of SC4, which can not be patched either. Your digital version should be 1.641.0.0, otherwise it's borked in other ways.
