4:3 Resolution?

Is there anyway to get the game to stop running in widescreen mode? I cant stand the distortion. I've tried editing the launch sequence but it still keeps a 16:9 resolution.

To change the resolution in steam, right click SC4 -> Properties -> Launch options, add

-CustomResolution:enabled -rWWWWxHHHHx32

), where WWWW and HHHH are the width and height of your 4:3 resolution. It could be any resolution, really, but I'm guessing any 4:3 above 1080p may not look great on the screen.

if you have distortion, it's a problem of your monitor settings.
the game runs in a 4x3 resolution, but your monitor stretches it to fill the widescreen.
look into the monitor settings to switch that off.

the other solution would be to get the game to run in a resolution appropriate for a widescreen, like said above add it to the command options, and chose a widescreen resolution like 1280x720 or 1920x1080. that will make the game render a widescreen output that will then fit to your widescreen monitor without distortion.

I'm having the same problem too... This is my first game on Steam... there's supposed to be a way to manually specificy the ration in the program's parameters...

Gaah... didn't backread this thread... I was about to post the same information too... Sim City looks great on my monitor now! :)

ive tried and tried ive created a shortcut and done it that way ive also gone into steam lauch options for some reason i just cant get fullscreen does anybody have any ideas why ?

Right click SC4 —— Properties ——Launch options，add↓
-CustomResolution:enabled -r1024x768 -w
Or replace 1024x768 with the resolution you want.

That's pretty much something I always try to switch off whenever I get a new monitor or TV. Most good TVs and monitors let me have the beautiful black bars on the left and right sides of the image. Stretched images make my eyes hurt.

It's not just to do with the monitor, there are any number of reasons why a 4:3 image can be stretched wide. For me it's the scaling options in my graphics card driver, if I don't turn off scaling then everything gets stretched to fill the screen.

I am having this same issue. No matter what I change the resolution to in the launch command, the game always stretches the display in fullscreen mode. All I want is fullscreen with a 4:3 aspect ratio with the resolution of my choice. PC is:
MSI Intel Corei7-8750H 2.2ghzCPU, 16gig RAM, Windows10. Please help lol.
