Half-Life 2 RTX

Half-Life 2 RTX

Do you need the latest driver to get proper performance?
I have been avoiding updating to the latest Nvidia drivers over the scares since the RTX 5000 series release.

Apparently the problems of black screens and PCs not recognising RTX 5000 series hardware, affected RTX 4000 series too.

I have RTX 4080 so do not want to risk bricking my card, or any other issues.

Am assuming however, that for the best performance experience, we need the latest Nvidia driver for HL2 RTX.

What is happening in this post? I have a 4090, haven't had any driver issues and drivers don't usually have a huge impact on performance unless they're doing something odd.

Update or don't your performance won't really change.

I just fired it up, and it told me I needed drive 566.something, for it to run RT Remix.

Like I said. If you don't know then you'll have to google it.

Oh no, I know all about the issues but I am so confused why any of it was in the post. If your drivers are so old it couldn't run you really should update more often and stop letting niche issues make you afraid.

566 is really old.

Yes. I have a 4090 and I updated before playing this and it runs great.

lol what? What are you talking about.. bricking your card by updating with an official driver? That doesn't exist and if it did, Nvidia would have to give you a new one.
The newest Nvidia driver fixes all problems with black screen....Trust me I would know

Yeah, I went with it over the last half-hour, and played some of HL2 RTX and I love it. .... My RTX 4080 has been fine so far.

For ages I have wanted to replay the HL2 trilogy, but never found mods I was confident about using or installing. With HL RTX I will for absolute sure be replaying HL2.

I'm not sure now what driver I had before updated tonight, but I had been using it for a while. I didn't feel the need to update drivers recently because I have not bought any new releases for ages. Very rare I buy new games on release. ... Got a huge backlog of games to play.

Just didn't want to run into any of the problems with new drivers. I have not heard any stuff about 'the latest driver is OK', from any of the tech-testers etc.

Try and update every couple months to make sure you don't have compatibility issues.

Just need a beefy GPU...seems like people are having a hard time turning that RT down while calling framgen and PT a gimmick...If they're gimmicks just turn it down or off and stop complaining lmao.
If you are into VR all of the halflife games have good VR mods, tiny trees.
