Half-Life 2 RTX

Half-Life 2 RTX

Should I even bother trying with AMD?
I have a 7800xt and I'm wondering if its even worth downloading to try it out.

I have a 7900 XTX and just took a quick look - the answer is no. Runs the same as portal RTX.

Runs fine with my 9070XT on linux (50-80fps, no framegen) - however - that's with using optiscaler to have better upscalers than the atrocious and slow TAAU non-Nvidia users are left with on remix games. FSR4 support isn't a thing on linux at this point in time, so I'm using XeSS with CAS sharpening. If you're up for a bit of tweaking with optiscaler I'm pretty sure you can get a playable experience. It'll not run amazingly, but it should be pretty fair (I had a 7800XT before).

Hello,

I also have the 9070 xt (OC). I have Ubuntu on my "gaming pc" hoping for the most compatibility. I was wondering if you can explain to me how you got the card working on your setup? Links to any threads or something I can use to read?

Currently a lot of my games won't close even after exiting, I have to run killall -9 steam.

I would like to try this demo out (Quake 2 RTX runs fine) but I'm not sure if I should wait until drivers are stable or what ...

Thanks!

Yeah go for it. I can run it @ 3200 x 1800 : 1 min light and 6 max light with a high denoiser no problem, it is probably 30+ FPS though and I have to use the upscaler. FYI use the TAA-U(I think that is what it was called) upscaler the other is trash and native will kill your computer.

Note : Alt X : brings up the RT setting menu in game

It's cool and all even if the image is blurry, having said that I can't not just go to my self why the hell did you not make a conventional remake in Source 2 and use regular RT as optional effects.

Bottom line it is free and yest you can run it on AMD!
console exclusives is so last year.now we have gpu exclusives.nice.

What is your resolution pre-upscaling? It looks really low but you're also getting better framerate than my 4090 running at 3.1GHz @ 486W and 5090's. 4k Running DLSS Quality, ultra preset I get 49FPS at the first scene.

It's really low indeed. 2.5x ratio to 1440p (so 1024x576), ultra preset. My 9070xt has a 330W bios but I limited it to 300W to mimic the base models TBP.

I have packaged my current setup Here [drive.google.com]. Extract to the
Half-Life 2 RTX / bin / .trex /
dir then set
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dxgi=n,b" %command%
in the game launch parameters. You'll then see DLSS as selectable in the options. It defaults to xess but you can change it through the `nvngx.ini` file (VulkanUpscaler variable).

Any idea how this could work on Windows? I can't get any DLL hooks working, DLSS is not available in the menu, so fakenvapi doesn't hook, Optiscaler also can't inject itself.

This worked until I tried to change the nvidia setting to performance since I have a 9070(non XT), then it kept crashing.

Thank you so much! Working for me.
Actually funny, I'm emulating ray tracing on my RX 5700 XT via `RADV_PERFTEST=rt,emulate_rt %command%`. Hoping to get more fps.

Might make a video or a guide, in any case, you'll get some credit. Thank you again.

Upscaling with FSR works and all, but framegen fails to load sadly.
