I updated the drivers too, and everytime I start it up my whole pc restarts. Classic pc gamer moment

Every time I start the game and reach the title screen, it usually freezes within 30 seconds. If I'm lucky enough to get into the game, it freezes within one to two minutes.

I am on driver 571.96
Game does not start and crashes immideately.
I will NOT upgrade my drivers because those are still bugged with VSync and Frame Generation.
So no Half Life 2 RTX Remix for me.
Sad.

win 11 24h2 build 26120.3576

First time I launched it said it was loading meshes/assets or whatever, got to the menu, and then made my PC reboot. And it's normally very stable, I haven't had any big issues or BSODs in years. So I verified the files and now it seems to just be crashing on startup

I ran into exactly the same problem. I was able to solve it. Go to the root folder of the game “Half-Life 2 RTX” and find the hl2.exe file, right click on the file and go to properties. Under “compatibility” put it in windows 7 compatibility mode, and below that check “Run as administrator”. Maybe the first launch will be hard, I only managed to launch the game normally from the second time

Same problem on 13700k/4080/64gb with latest 572.83 driver

3900X and RTX 4090, newest non-preview win11 pro, newest RTX game ready drivers specifically for this game and the second it loads up at the main menu screen, crashes whole pc causing a hard reboot.
