Half-Life 2 RTX

Half-Life 2 RTX

Radeon users shouldn't bother...?
I know it's Nvidia funded/co-developed, so Radeon support of any kind is left out for obvious reasons.

I wasn't expecting great performance on Portal RTX with my Radoen 6950 XT, but in that game at just 1080P I saw GPU usage barely at 7% and my FPS was 1. Yes, 1.

Radeon's have hardware RT, and Nvidia shills love to remind us all the time it's useless, but the hardware is there so why in Portal (and I assume in this) it seems to be intentionally coded to under utilise the card (7% remember). If the card could run at full speed, might actually get into double digit FPS at least.

Such a shame.

Next time don't fall the the 'hype'. Buy Nvidia and get the real experience.
yes the 9070xt is overhyped. don't be dumb and buy the superior 5070ti or 5080 for the best gaming experience.

200+ fps. game looks great in 4k. plays well.

I guess you get what you pay for.

Turn off your 4X fake frame generation combined with DLSS (that is probably rendering the scene at 1080 internally), then up-scaling it to your native res and get back to me.

Nvidia released a slide that said to achieve 120 FPS at 4K you need to use DLSS balanced and 4X frame gen on a bloody 5090. Hardly money well spent.

OK so trying out different settings, it can run in ultra but only if the TAU settings are set to Performance. In Fullscreen mode it cuts into the FPS to about 10. This is still at 1440p and the render is using about 50% of the GPU's memory. The GPU processor usage is less than 1%. I can use Good settings and Balanced TAU rendering performance and I get 30 FPS at 1440p. Granted, this is a very high AMD setup. Indiana Jones runs beautifully on Ultra settings because it supports AMD cards. It's a shame that this is gatekept to NVidia cards. I can run above 60 FPS using Performance and Low settings, but it's not gonna look as pretty.

Radeon 7900XT 20GB and Ryzen 9950X with 64 GB Ram. Didn't install on my SSD.

What's with the full Apple-level cultistic shilling over nvidia in some of these comments?

You know this is the company that first screwed up the power connector design TWICE, thus bricking numerous 4090/5090s and PSUs and obviously introducing an actual fire hazard due to melting cables. And THEY ARE NOT RECALLING THE GPUs. AND you have to pay two times the actual value of the GPU in most cases. Utterly insane and undefensible anti-consumer behavior.

i really like the remade assets of this game. Any chances to turn off all the RTX crap and just play with the better textures?

all these nvidia bots. amd gpus runs cooler, don't having missing "rops" are not frying with power connectors, we aren't paying for overpriced garbage while nvidia are milking you dry with each gen, we're not having driver issues causing black screens etc. not to mention fsr 4 is now on par with dlss, afmf 2.1 can run in every single game you can think of and it's amazing.

I jumped to amd 4 years ago and haven't had a single issue with drivers, I watched the 3070 getting gimped by vram and me and my 6700xt at the time laughed at people complaining about the 3070 "why is it stuttering and why am i getting fps drops".

nvidia are shady af just giving enough vram on the 3000 series knowing 8/10gbs wasn't going to cut it long term and it showed, clearly doing that so people upgraded to the 4000 series. every benchmark they showed is their gpu's running using dlss lol like how shady can you get, using fake benchmarks to show there gpus are so much more powerful than last gen and people fall for this bs. amd have already outsold the 5000 series just a week after launch that shows people can't be bothered with nvidia's bs, the only people that can be bothered with nvidia is the brain dead sheep :).

Right? It's like XBOX vs PS arguments. AMD's RSR and FSR technologies work great - its just that this game is only designed for DLSS. I'm sure modders will eventually get this working fine like they did with Portal RTX. With the latest Radeon cards it will at least run faster than 1 FPS but it's not gonna be fully optimized.

I was going to ask if a 6700XT could handle it decently but I see it runs like ♥♥♥♥ even on 9000 series. Oh well
Crazy how people like to stand for big evil companies who ♥♥♥♥ on them all the time, there's no cuck behavior that match this much cuckiness.
If only nvidia code wasn't proprietary, your amd card would run fine...

Though I might have overreacted on that, I know you meant in general, sry

Nvidia's vision for graphics is just to reinvent all wheels of graphics rendering to only run on their proprietary hardware, this is why examples like this game are bad for us all.

Don't say the truth, nvidia glazers will be sad

Yea i didn't target you, just commented on people who act like that

What gimmicks are you referring to? dedicated hardware for ray tracing?

I guess radeon would do well to do the same "gimmicks"
