Jump scares and gory stuff? Content question.
Jump Scares... I don't like them. Mostly because I look stupid (less manly) when I jump. Is there an excessive use of jump scares in this game?

Gory stuff... I like to keep it to a minimum. I guess I'm OK with what I saw in the trailer. Anything in excess of that?

O and while I'm at it, no kids get hurt right? I even felt bad for the boy (the hunter) in AVP2 movie, not to mention the OB ward. Ya I hated that movie.

Just for reference, I felt like F.E.A.R. was really pushing the limits on jump scares.

This isn't really a horror game, but there's pretty disturbing gore type stuff

There are only 2 or 3 gory moments in the game and even them they are not that shocking (in a horryfing way)

I don't remember it having any jump scares (maybe one or two).

As people say it's not an horror game, it's more of a mistery (like in twin peaks) with some action parts put together

There is only really one "jump scare" in the game but you can spot it a mile away and no kids get harmed nore is it is particularly gory. It's not really even scary but of course that depends on what you consider scary. It's more funny and weird then anything.

The quality of the port, on the other hand, is terrifying.

DP is more a "surreal" horror game (think of an even more twisted Twin Peaks), it's meant to be weird and disturbing in some way, but not really scary at all. Yet, there are some gory parts but nothing even remotely pushing the limits... Anyway, it's upon your tolerance to horror (which, I see, isn't exactly hardcore). Just to make thing easier for you: until properly & heavilly patched, the PC port is a virtually unplayable pile of garbage. No point in buying it at this time
It's weird horror, dream-horror if you will, kind of humorous . . . but hold off because this has to be the ugliest, buggiest version of DP ever. AND THERE'S NO CONTROLLER SUPPORT! I AM OUTRAGED!

I think "thriller" is the word we all are looking for. At least it's my impression of it based on all I've seen and heard so far about the game.

its more like a weird campy surreal thiller than horror gory stuff
There are no jumpscares in this game so long as you shoot the zombies (zombies, ghosts, shadows or whatever they are exactly) - if you don't, they'll shove their hand into your mouth, which can be a bit surprising at first.
