What about the 4GB patch on PC?
I have been able to get the PC version running really well and consistent without any crashes in my last play through. But it probably took me 6 hours of messing around. And the PS3 version is identical outside of the upgraded fan textures you can use with DPfix.
It's by far the easiest way to play an excellent version of the game. Doesn't take much horse power to run at 4k 60fps. If your PC can run the PC version at that resolution, it can almost certainly run the PS3 version at that too, but with a lot less hassle.

(I updated the original post too)
Not sure you can import on that version but just copy these settings and you should be good. You may need to reduce the resolution scale under GPU if yours can't handle 60fps at 4K. But other than that these settings should run perfectly. You can also inject Reshade to add some better AA (I use SMAA and FAA) or other effects to improve IQ (I like chromatic aberration for one) too at no performance cost.
I included some screens of what mine looks like with my Reshade settings.
lol, sure. But having to set up an emulator to play it captures some of that magic ;)
And yet it could save you hours of messing around and headache from trying to get the PC version running correctly. Any CPU decent enough to run Deadly Premonition is likely to have no problem running PS3 emulation at the same resolution.
I just got this game last year, tried playing it, but it wouldn't recognize my controller properly, so I had to change things in big picture mode.
Then I ran into the crash after the car cutscene, and just gave up, because I tried so many options and researched so many methods of fixing before I even encountered the crash.
Say I were to start from scratch now, what steps should I get to be able to play this on my PC, with a controller, and no crashing?
