similar games?
I want to recreate the feeling of playing mouthwashing for the first time, trying to find similar games. Are there any other psychological horror games with a similar atmosphere, mode of storytelling, unique graphic style and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up plot twists and thinking points without the cheap jump scares you find in resident evil games.

The only one I've found that is even remotely similar is Sally Face.

Cat Lady. Extremely dark and depressing and very disturbing.

Distraint too, the subject matter of a very guilty ridden protagonist might be what you're looking for. Less possibly implied rape though.

The Hole, very, very heavy stuff, much more on the nose with its themes though.

Mr Red Face, about domestic abuse with supernatural tones.
Awesome thank you for the list :dealeruwu:

ill check them out and yesss i love Arctic Eggs such a great game :JudgmentalEgg:
Static Speaks my Name is good, as well as Bucket Detective. The Moon Sliver, A wolf in Autumn, Fingerbones from another author. A Football Game - David Lynch, eerie style.

Iron Lung for a similar 'horror inside a tin can' feel (submarine horror)

Rusty Lake and Critters for Sale for the more surreal side.

I have two in my backlog - The Roottrees are Dead and Omori - that look promising.

Psychopomp comes to mind but it's nowhere near close to the quality of this one, story kinda more vague as well..

Just go to the Cinema.
This is barely a game.

Citizen Sleeper 1 & 2, and this one deserves a look.

I recommend The Cat Lady and all the games by Harvester Games (Rem Michalski), especially the Devil Came Through Here :lucif4r: franchise (which includes The Cat Lady, Downfall, Lorelai, and Burnhouse Lane). These games are excellent, with a unique style, story, and music.
One thing that comes close is SOMA, it is first person and narrative driven.
There's a "safe" difficulty which makes it even more narrative focused, and I recommend that setting because the game's horror transcends survival elements.

A slow burner for a character-based narrative with solid writing is OMORI. It has some kiddy-ish combat elements but aren't the main appeal of the game.
