Figured out the invalid account name login issue.

My friends and I were trying to play Burnout Paradise and I got the infamous invalid account name error after trying to use my origin ID. The login information was currect since I can log into Origin just fine. I've been told you can get this fixed by having support help you but since it's Thanksgiving, they are unavailable until Friday. I played the game previously as a different name on PS3 and maybe on the PC, but my current origin ID was different since the last time I played it. I reverted my Origin ID back to the original one I had at the time I played the game years ago and low and behold, I can log in just fine.

So if you played the game before on console or PC and are now trying to play it on PC with your current Origin ID, you need to use the one you had at the time you first played the game. Otherwise you need to contact support to have them fix it. Hope this helps.

Hey man, I know that this thread is old. But who did you contact? Origin or Steam? It won't let me change my name back :/ I had it on Origin as Kenshi-Tora (says it's invalid) and changed it to Somikuo before purchasing the game on steam.

I changed my origin name and ever since, I'm getting the same error. Invalid name. What a load of horse crap. Changing my name should not keep me from logging in. I typed my new username exactly how I changed it to.

When I try to change my username back to what it was it says there was an invalid character. What the ♥♥♥♥, EA

I don't remember where I did it. I think it was on the myaccount.ea.com site where you look at your profile and click on edit. I didn't talk to anyone about it. It was just something I tried and it worked. Think this has to do with how they merged all the accounts into a single origin id from all the different accounts. The game is old and they had their own thing so whatever you used back then is what is in the servers for the game and if there's a mismatch when it compares to your current id to the one thats listed on the game server, it comes up invalid. This is all speculation on my part. I doubt they will fix it.
