As far as I remember, EA shut down the servers for this game several years ago, so no, multiplayer (which is by the way one of the main points of this game) doesn't work. :\

I'm not sure whether the multiplayer lobbies are being hosted by public servers or privately hosted but they do work.

Don't worry, the servers are still up (which is surprising since Criterion didn't support this game anymore) so online multiplayer STILL WORKS and I still play it in my chill time...

YES YOU MUST have an Origin account, but you can actually sign up for it inside the game which I did. Burnout Paradise actually the first game on my Origin account which I first played in 2014.

And thanks for the Origin Store still selling the DLC, I got all the DLC cars (except for Big Surf Island cars and cop cars, because that exclusive to consoles).
