If that doesn't work, we'd like to take a look at a log file. Start the game, hit F7 *once*, close the game, re-open and cause the hang. Then send me your log file, help at braceyourselfgames dot com. Log files can be found by right clicking the game in your Library and selecting "properties" at the bottom of the list. Then select the "local files" tab and click "browse local files". A window should open up and there's a folder in there called logs. Thank you!
- Unsubscribe from any Steam Workshop mods for NecroDancer. After doing that, you should also fully shut down the Steam client and restart it to make sure that the mods are turned off.
- Verify your game files with Steam. (Right click on Crypt of the NecroDancer in your Steam library and select Properties, then the "Local Files" tab, then click "Verify integrity of game cache")
- Try running the game with no other unnecessary programs running to be sure that it isn't something else interfering with your game. Be sure to check your task manager and the system tray for any unnecessary hidden processes. Steam also lists examples of programs that could interfere with various functions on Steam. You should also try to shut down or disable any of these programs, restart your computer without them running, and then try to play the game. Steam's list can be found here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9828-SFLZ-9289
- Manually delete all of the game's files from the SteamApps folder. Then click uninstall from within Steam to make sure it recognizes that the game is gone, reinstall it, restart both Steam, and your machine. If you are concerned about losing your save data, you can copy it to your desktop and then put it back in the Data subfolder after you've re-installed.
