Game doesn't register keyboard button presses sporadically
I don't know how else to say it. I don't have to be in combat it can happen when I'm just randomly walking around I know I'm not off beat I'll press the key nothing will happen and then it'll say beat missed after the line goes through the heart. At first I thought I was going crazy, but I've tested it multiple times. I definitly hit the arrow key at the right time and I'm not getting hit by anything but for some reason it doesn't register the press. My keyboard works fine so I'm not really sure what the issue is.

Did you calibrate the video and audio settings?

I did. I don't really know what it is. I just tried on my gamepad too, I swear I'm pressing the button on rythm then nothing happens the beat goes by and it says I missed it as if I didn't press the button. It's incredibly frustrating. Dunno if being on a 144 htz monitor messes with it somehow but I don't think it could be the culprit. Think I'm going to get a refund, it's really gamebreaking.

Hi Blinky! If you haven't already gotten a refund could you please post some video of what's going on? Thanks!

Sorry I already sought a refund, after searching the forums for more information on the issue it clearly isn't a very popular one. The crux of the issue was that even out of combat just walking around to the beat I could be tapping with the rythm perfectly fine and then maybe one out of thirty presses I'd hit the key it wouldn't give me an input that the key was pressed and then the beat would pass and I'd lose my combo. At first I thought it was just because I sucked or something but after it happening continually and then happening when I wasn't fighting any monsters simply hopping around level one in an empty room I figured something must of been going wrong. I tried it on my 360 controller as well using the DPAD and had the same type of error. I'm not sure if the video delay would be changed on 144 htz so perhaps I was actually missing the beat but it clearly worked up until that missed note. In any other game missing one keystroke out of 30 a quick tap most likely wouldn't even be noticeable especially if I'm holding it down, perhaps that is where the issue could be on my end? Sorry for not being more helpful, I did really enjoy the game but it was very infuriating getting tripped up by a bug.

I totally understand! Unfortunately on this one I'm guessing it might have been a hardware interaction - since it's not something we've gotten a number of reports on and without more data I can't reproduce the bug myself. When you get a refund does Steam delete all your files? I'd love to see your save file or any logs that might have been left behind to see if there's something in there that would help us get to the bottom of the issue. Thanks for taking the time to respond!

I thought I deleted it but I actually have all my files. What would you like to see or post for you? I don't think I even made it to stage 2 (Grass one I think)

I brought the game recently and I believe I am having this issue also.

I'd really appreciate it if one of the devolpers gets back to me I don't want to have to seek a refund, I've been looking forward to playing this game for about a month. :steamsad:

They're not as active on the steam forums. You'll have a faster response time if you post on the official forums.

Hi Konomi! Have you calibrated the game? Are you using a keyboard or a controller? What OS are you using?
Konomi Aug 27, 2015 @ 9:22am
I've Calibrated the game but I find it chooses varrying offsets that never seem to match up. IE I do it twice come out with different offsets. I've tried a keyboard and a controller both seem to have the issue. I'm on Debian 8.1 Jessie. I've also tried turning on vsync and messing with the graphics options to no avail. Oh I also used QPadJoy to see if that would help it translates gamepad buttons to keyboard output, no luck.

Yeah I was never able to find a fix for it and eventually refunded. Hope you have better luck than I did.

I ended up resetting the calibration to just be 0 ms for both audio and video (I didn't notice you could manually set it) and I seem to be having less troubles now. I think it might've been me just being new to the game and I found the calibration to be really hard to actually set...

Glad it's working!
Hi, I think I've been having this issue as well, except it happens considerably more rarely for me (only around once per run). I've been ignoring it so far since at worst it only costs a hit or a multiplier but for Aria runs this is essentially a game-breaker and I'm not sure I'll be able to do a complete run. Last time it happened when the game lagged a bit, though I recall times when the game was running fine and there were no monsters nearby (when it's easy to keep the beat).

Keyboard, calibration set (~60ms for both), Windows 7. I'm not sure if it might be a hardware problem instead since I haven't played this on other machines.

The alternative is that I've been deceiving myself and the game's keeping track fine but I probably won't be able to notice that from my perspective.
