Content Still Encrypted Error on Install - No Solutions Work
Hey, everyone!

So for the past week or so Necrodancer has just been sitting as a perpetual download in my downloads folder, so I thought I'd just uninstall it and reinstall it to clear it out.

Now whenever I try to reinstall it I get a "content still encrypted" error.

I've looked all over the Steam forums and tried every solution: none of them have worked.

I've tried:
  • Opting in and out of Steam Beta participation
  • Clearing Download Cache
  • Verifying integrity of game files
  • Deleting the appmanifest files
  • Repairing Steam library
  • Deleting the game's app folder in the userdata section

None of this has helped and it's driving me insane! Does anyone have any insight into this?

Thanks so much for any help you can provide!

Had this issue when trying to play via family sharing. Account that borrowed the game couldn't download it and gave this error.

tried all the things you listed above and none of them fixed it.

Eventually figured out, downloading and launching from the account that owned the game seemed to fix it for the account that was borrowing the game. Download went just fine on the account the game belonged to. After that switched back to the account that's borrowing it and game worked just fine.

Hope that helps. Not sure if family sharing was really causing the problem or if that solution just happened to work.

I'm going to check this right now, as this sounds like it might actually be a solution. The game is being shared, so this sounds like it might actually fix it!

I'll report back soon!
