Crypt of the NecroDancer

More love for (bad) dancepad players?
Yo, so I recently bought a dancepad, and frankly, I suck donkey with it. However, I kept practicing and practicing and finally gathered enough courage to try Crypt'O'Dancer. It's incredible fun (seriously guys, if you're wondering about a dancepad, just get a soft dancepad and see for yourselves), really changes the feel when playing. I also noticed a Dancepad Mode, which let me play Zone 1 with some items already on. I really really enjoyed the mode and in a few tries I beat it. However, it's only Zone 1, and it ends after the boss. I understand it's the game's way of saying "Well done, now prove you suck slightly less by playing real hardcore, not whimsy pansy dancepad mode", but I honestly want to keep playing with the advantage of dancepad mode. I mean, I can't beat Zone 3-3 with Keyboard, how can I even try winning with a dancepad.

So my question is: will there be a mode, which gives you some advantage for Dancepad players, but doesn't stop at a single Zone, and continues like Hardcore? I simply want more of the same great thing.

tl;dr My idea would be to add a mode identical to hardcore, except it would have the starter items/enemy reduction of a dancepad mode.

DancePad mode is mostly just so you can train with using the dancepad inputs to my understanding which is why the only change is really just additional items
The problem is that they cant create a mode that you can only use a dancepad on as that would require detecting the device being used from all the different dance pads, or else everyone could access it even with a keyboard similarly to how they can in dancepad mode now.
You can always go and play the normal zone by zone mode?

Without extra items and enemy reduction, normal mode is helluva hard, way too solid for my feeble unexperienced feet to handle.

I'm not saying that it should be playable only by dance-pads, just name it dance padcore, or something like that. Just like how they don't limit the Dance pad mode to any other input, they shouldn't in that "long run". I think everyone should be able to play it, Dance pad or not, just it would be catered towards those, who can't play with a Dance pad as good as a normal player. I'll update the main post with a tl;dr, so that it would be easier to understand.

Oh, and as a deterrent for players looking the easier way out, it could have no gems!

They should just add a dance pad mode to the game. No reason to have it auto detect just make it an option to pick from like local co-op.

Agreed. I guess it's cool that they put it in there at all for Zone 1, but it'd be nice for people using dance pads that aren't that good to be able to play the other zones on dance pad mode too. Otherwise, I'm just going to die a lot, but I do that with the keyboard or controller too so why should a dance pad be any different? Lol.

That no gems idea sounds like a good trade-off.
Haha "some items" - you start with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of stuff! WAY easier.

I'm all for more options, but I'd encourage you to practice with keyboard and get good at the game first, so that you can beat hardcore mode, then try the dancepad. I want to get a nice pad myself, but those necrodancer ones cost $300...hmmmm.....

I think I'm semi-decent with a keyboard, enough to continue dancing with my feet anyways. I've got almost all patterns memorized, using the optimal items, etc. It's just that my feet are clumsy (classical dances for 5 years clearly didn't pay off, ha) and I can barely kill a green dragon in a normal mode! Basically, I feel my poor dancing skills, not lack of in-game knowledge, make me poor at dancepadding in this game.

Also, don't buy the Necrodancer ones, unless you're a real pro. With a bit of luck, you can get a generic softpad for as cheap as $10. Check various online retailers that are popular in your area. These things also might pop-up in group purchase sites, like Groupon and etc.

By the way, a soft dancepad can be easily modified to a decent hardpad, just check the web.

So, I've managed to beat the first two zones, in normal mode, on a dance pad. It gets very hard. No luck on the third or fourth zones.

I kind of like it how it is. While, at first, I wanted there to be a "dance pad mode" all the way through the game, now I see it like playing on a dance pad is an added challenge. Having beaten the game with Cadence and Melody, I see my next challenge as beating it on the dance pad as those characters (I have very little interest in beating it with Aria).

I feel like you're a masochist and/or a really good Necrodancer.

I made a mod which makes music 1.1~1.3x slower.just search Dancepad music mod in workshop.
I myself use dancepad like 2 or 3times a week for exercise.Once you are familiar with the game, normal music speed should be no problem.

Well, even though this was posted two years (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) ago, I still consider myself to be decent at the game - I can play with the keyboard no problemo. Just my legs are way slower to react compared to my fingers.

Thanks for the mod, I'll check it out.
