The problem is that they cant create a mode that you can only use a dancepad on as that would require detecting the device being used from all the different dance pads, or else everyone could access it even with a keyboard similarly to how they can in dancepad mode now.
You can always go and play the normal zone by zone mode?
Without extra items and enemy reduction, normal mode is helluva hard, way too solid for my feeble unexperienced feet to handle.
I'm not saying that it should be playable only by dance-pads, just name it dance padcore, or something like that. Just like how they don't limit the Dance pad mode to any other input, they shouldn't in that "long run". I think everyone should be able to play it, Dance pad or not, just it would be catered towards those, who can't play with a Dance pad as good as a normal player. I'll update the main post with a tl;dr, so that it would be easier to understand.
Oh, and as a deterrent for players looking the easier way out, it could have no gems!
I'm all for more options, but I'd encourage you to practice with keyboard and get good at the game first, so that you can beat hardcore mode, then try the dancepad. I want to get a nice pad myself, but those necrodancer ones cost $300...hmmmm.....
I think I'm semi-decent with a keyboard, enough to continue dancing with my feet anyways. I've got almost all patterns memorized, using the optimal items, etc. It's just that my feet are clumsy (classical dances for 5 years clearly didn't pay off, ha) and I can barely kill a green dragon in a normal mode! Basically, I feel my poor dancing skills, not lack of in-game knowledge, make me poor at dancepadding in this game.
Also, don't buy the Necrodancer ones, unless you're a real pro. With a bit of luck, you can get a generic softpad for as cheap as $10. Check various online retailers that are popular in your area. These things also might pop-up in group purchase sites, like Groupon and etc.
By the way, a soft dancepad can be easily modified to a decent hardpad, just check the web.
I kind of like it how it is. While, at first, I wanted there to be a "dance pad mode" all the way through the game, now I see it like playing on a dance pad is an added challenge. Having beaten the game with Cadence and Melody, I see my next challenge as beating it on the dance pad as those characters (I have very little interest in beating it with Aria).
I myself use dancepad like 2 or 3times a week for exercise.Once you are familiar with the game, normal music speed should be no problem.
Thanks for the mod, I'll check it out.
