How many players are supported?

I don't understand this trend of not listing this kind of information on the store page. Or the game's own website. Or the company's own forums.

Everything I've been able to get out of Google seems to suggest that this is a single player game. With maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe a 2-player mode in developement.

The store page on Steam disagrees and says it's local-co-op. Is that true? If so does that mean 4 players or only 2 players? Three?

It's primarily a single-player game, but you can play co-op with one other person.

It is primarily single player but does have aleady implimented 2 player co-op which can be really fun because you can mix and match characters between the two players, so that each person can play a certain way.
