Crypt of the NecroDancer

Crypt of the NecroDancer

New Obsession
First 20 minutes and I am more than impressed, think I've found my new addiction and may as well buy the DLC while it's on sale.

Its an awesome game :) I haven't had a chance to play many characters past Candace because I'm too headstrong, but the little things it added have been a blast.

Have fun, mate~

I didn't think it had bits of progression with the diamonds to buy/upgrade some stuff permanently. It has workshop. DLC, weekly challenges, versus & multiplayer so there is tons to do and try out even though I'm years late to the show. For a new player like me everything is fresh and too much to run through so it's gonna be a blast playing through this game. First 4 hours and it's been a pleasure to listen to the music and the simple pixel graphics with tactical game-play, can't see myself dropping this or switching to anything else as my main game for a while!

The mods are awesome and it's super easy to mod yourself. With no experience I made a Link mod because I like Zelda, but now there's a better one in the shop lol.

Speaking of, if you have a switch I recommend trying Cadence of Hyrule. Essentially this game, but it's a procedurally generated Hyrule Kingdom with Cadence Link and Zelda. The soundtrack is, of course, impeccable. I'm using it as a replacement for Terraria's OST right now, haha!

Seeing this in the steam shop after years on sale with all the DLC for about 8-9$ in full and a video on youtube of Cadence of Hyrule was funny enough another thing that made me remember this game. I do in fact have a switch and did play on someone else's for the other game and I might bust mine back out but the wifi/bluetooth chip is dead so it's dead without wifi and it bricks. What I get for buying a switch from walmart a few years back 😅

noooooooo that's tragic q.q Damn you walmaaaaaaaaart!

The repair process for that is a little advanced... which is always exciting! But if you want to skip all that presuming you don't have either a soldering kit or an OLED, you can get lan adapters like this gentlemen talks about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZBHH6TLaJs

~3 min vid with chapters, bless his soul.

Honestly I did not think about just plugging it into the wifi router with ethernet directly. The main issue will be unbricking the thing for the time being as that prevents me from doing anything with it at the moment. Happened around the time I got it and had been sidetracked with my new PC I had gotten then eventually forgot about sending it in before the 2 year warranty. I do appreciate the help deeply and I will be looking into getting my switch repaired if not I think my dad said something about giving me his old one when he gets the new OLED which would be a plus, not sure how great the trade-in value is on the older models.

Besides that I did just get to try some multiplayer for the first time on Crypt of the Necrodancer with my sister using the remote play together feature which was fun! That and I finally beat level 2 after so many hours. I will say I love the ability to quickly adapt in this game to new situations and all the training features it offers is a big help for the bosses/mini-bosses. This game will slowly become an addiction so will Cadence of Hyrule.

Bwahaha thanks for reminding me this exists, I've been up the wall the past week trying to play Aria mode and that's just what I need.

But yeah, always happy to help mate! Speaking of... because f Nintendo's scummy ways especially after what they did to Palworld...

Oopsies, did I drop this url to a list of viable serial numbers that are printed on the back of your switch near the barcode sticker that indicate if his old switch is capable of being modded SUPER easily, with 0 consequences if used responsibly and can grant you more themes than Black / White with full customizability?

How CLUMSY of me! :marijaonlooker:

As much as I wish I could mod my switch I just can't at the moment without unbricking the thing first which is keeping me on the loading screen until the device drains and powers down. I'd love to play my switch from time to time but as it stands I'd either need to repair it like you said or I'll have to just send it in if not buy a new one. Like I said before though I'll probably wait until I get a new one but keep the old for modding like you said, I'll just have to pick up some tools since I mainly do handyman/installer type deals so tiny screwdrivers and whatnot are out of the question for the moment.

The more I've been playing this the more I've fallen in love with the title and would love to actually do a playthrough of Cadence of Hyrule once I've completed the base game at least for Crypt of the Necrodancer. I also suck with tech stuff I honestly just get on and boot up a game, I rarely upgrade my PC unless I'm behind and I just got it only 4-5 years ago and can play whatever it is I am wanting now.

Oh sorry, I thought the old one you mentioned your dad was going to give you wasn't the one that's bricked.

Be mindful that if you send it into Nintendo, they secretly install a chip that prevents soft-modding the console... That's when it gets complicated and requires soldering a modded chip instead of sliding a funny-plastic-thing into your joycon slot which is a dev-secret; doesn't require opening the console. Ugh, speaking of annoying Nintendo things, you'd need their Y-type screwdriver to open the damn thing. iFixit sells an incredible wide-range screw set that includes it if it ever picks your fancy one day. Guh, I love/hate Nintendo XD

Speaking of the game, if you'd ever like a partner for multiplayer feel free to add me any time~
I love guitar hero and I played a lot of other rythm games but this is just horrible for me. just dont have to copy a certain beat but instead you hit EVERY MONOTON beat and thats just not it for me. already refund
Eh, it's not so bad. I am not a rythm gamer and Crypt is rather easy in regards of movement as long as you don't try to play Bolt or Coda.

Sorry was wore out the last two days, my switch is the messed up one. My dad has the working one that I’d be taking from him as he gets his new one.

I appreciate all the tips & I’d love to play some multiplayer for sure! Been busy working on story mode with Melody as I just finished Z4 with Cadence, was my first attempt as well surprisingly trying to control two characters wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be. Wish they had a character that takes control of two lesser HP characters like Binding of Issac.

I thought I might as well give it a try since I was super into rhythm games in the past, let alone roguelike dungeon crawlers and this checks out both. Been a while though so I absolutely suck unless I get some good multipliers going.

As long as you have fun and it's enjoyable, sucking a bit isn't so bad. We all are learning after all. And yeah, I think Crypt is a good combo between being a slight rhythm game and a dungeon crawler.

Been having tons of fun for sure! Even if you are good or bad the game is designed to kill you over and over until you get a good run in not most but a decent amount of cases. Game also makes the learning process fun by itself having training rooms for enemies & mini-boss/bosses helps improve tons when trying to memorize 5-6 different enemy patterns at once in later zones. Gives me a little bit of nostalgia from Advanced Wars tile based combat, instead adapted as a form of movement timed to the beat and I’ve been all for it.
