Alternatively, if you don't want to deal with the minibosses that get summoned when a bell is rung, you can trick Dead Ringer into charging into them. This will destroy the bell (which will count as it being rung) and it won't summon a miniboss. Dead Ringer's AI is similar to the Minotaurs and so he'll charge you the moment you're on the same row or column as him.
Once the bells have been dealt with a gong will appear at the top of the arena. Dead Ringer will start glowing yellow and his charges become more like the Red Dragon's fireball attack (you'll get a 1 beat warning of him preparing to charge before he launches across the room instantly instead of one space at a time like he did before). Get him to charge into the gong and he'll be defeated.
1: You can destroy the bells yourself with bombs.
2: Phasing weapons can damage him to cause the 2nd phase to start, one more hit after that will kill him as well.
3: High enough damage can punch through his armour much like phasing attacks will, unsure on how much damage is needed though.
I need to stop editing this now. :s
