Amplified DLC - effects on Cadence
How does the DLC effect Cadence? I know that without the DLC Zone 4 boss was replaced by Dead Ringer, but Amplified adds the new Zone 5, so will Zone 4 have normal boss like all characters who don't have an exclusive final boss (like Monk, Bard etc.) and Zone 5 boss will be Dead Ringer?

Yes. Basically Dead Ringer just goes to the last zone. Also there is 1 additional boss added to the pool, just in case you're wondering if zone 5 will have a normal boss fight.

I know about Fortissimole, and he's easy, but the only thing I'm actually scared of is that the game will give me Deep Blues in zone 4, once I get there, successfully ending my run. I just can't stand this boss, even zone 1 version. While I managed to defeat every boss from zone 1 without getting hit with a dagger, Deep Blues is the only one that I have not yet found a good strategy for. Is there even a good strategy for this boss that will ensure your victory every time you face it?

If you have a throwable weapon with 3 damage for DB1/2 or 5 for DB3/4/5, just walk in and throw it for an instant win. Two shuriken work for DB1/2 as well. Even without the OHKO damage, if you have another weapon holstered or are using shuriken on DB3/4/5 you can throw to make him teleport and then finish him off from there.

If you have a rapier or axe that deals 3/5 damage, you can usually charge up the middle, though certain openers can mess up rapier. I can never remember which pawns are safe, but I know if a knight moves first you'll have to call this plan off.

If those quick kills aren't available to you, going up column 3 is the most reliable way to do the fight normally. From there you can either take out all the pieces one by one, move up to him with a 3/5 damage weapon to oneshot him, or spend a bomb on DB1/2.

Short answer: no.

Long answer: only if you have items that shield, do room damage, or get a spear/dagger to enough damage so that you can throw it as soon as you enter the room. Basically you're screwed if you're low% Aria or Cadence, but fine as normal Aria with the tiny item pool.

My personal advice is to take out the Knights and Queen ASAP, then let the others come to you while you wear down the pawns.

Thanks for the advices :happymeat:
Also, since we're at the topic of Deep Blues strategies, how should I approach Deep Blues as Monk? I've had a few runs where I couldn't get to the exit because I was trapped.

Monk DB is extremely tricky, just keep practicing it in training mode over and over until you can wrap your head around it. One way to approach the fight is to leave one pawn alone until the last row or so, so that column is an open path you can take afterwards. And if all else fails, you can always bomb the gold to get rid of it.

Monk DB is made SO much easier by amplified, thanks to the bomb charm (5x5 safe bombs). Bomb charm + Blast helmet is pretty much guaranteed win as Monk if you know how to balance bombs and when to use it.

On the subject of bombs, DB, and Amplified, grenade charm and grenades are great for DB too.

if you enter in the right column, you can use the war drum 5 times and throw your dagger at the king just before he castles on beat 8. otherwise, the cutlass and axe are your best friends, and in terms on non DLC, earthquake clears the area fairly well, but the main danger in DB 3+ is the red pawns. this fight is hard mainly because there are so many things to keep track of. I'd say DB is the hardest standard boss in the game, so pray to RNGesus that you get this one first.

Imo this is the hardest boss out of all (haven't unlocked 2 yet, my guess is Aria and something else). Dead Ringer is fairly simple, even more if you get lucky there (like on my very recent first successful Cadence all zones run, where once he hit the bottom right bell and I hit top left, we aligned exactly in the middle for a quick finish), also when you fight him and Necrodancer you're at the point where you have a lot of equipment, damage and defense. Necrodancer 2 is very easy, Melody was the second character after Bard, with which I've beaten all zones mode. The Frankensteinway isn't that tough either, it's slow, you just have to see where he goes, and when he turns red, make him charge at the sarcophaguses (I hope I didn't mispell that). As I mentioned before, I have not yet fought the other 2 bosses.

Here's a list of the characters with special bosses:
  • Nocturna 1
  • Nocturna 2
  • Cadence 1
  • Cadence 2
  • Melody
  • Aria
Then there's the other 5 standard bosses, each with 5 difficulties.

Well sh*t, I knew Frankensteinway was a bit too easy as a special final boss... Also, about Aria - I remember that before I bought the DLC, when you jumped into a boss practice, if you went into for example Death Metal 1, you fought the same boss as you would if you went with any other character when entering Death Metal 4. Now it has been reversed, so boss 1 is normal boss 1, but my guess is that Aria still has normal reversed boss order as before, just zone 5 has boss 1, 4 - 2 etc., right? Still can't beat zone 4 with her :fsad:

A few more strats:

Grenade charm kills all versions just by walking up 3 spaces and throwing a bomb.
Walk up to row 3, throw dagger/spear, fireball. He will always teleport to row 3 first, so fireball is sure to hit. Note that lesser fireball (tome/spell without ring of mana) is 3 damage, so for DB3/4/5 you need at least 2 damage on the dagger throw.
Go up column 3 like usual and take out a few pieces so you can reach the King when he castles, Earth spell.
Quake scroll does 1 damage to everything, won't kill the king but it'll take care of all 1HP (blue) pieces.
Freeze spell lets you just get in there and hit him.
Ring of courage with 3/5 damage enables you to safely charge up the middle. Even without the damage you can use it to take out all the pieces with invincibility, just don't attack the king until everything else is dead.
Shield spell usually doesn't help you kill any faster, but it's obviously safe. You might be able to rush in with some weapons, and it'll save rapier/axe from bad openings.
Boots of Pain can act kind of like a rapier for DB1/2, but make sure you also have damage on your weapon.

In general, you should always be aware of what resources are available to you and figure out what you can do with your tools.

As Aria, 5-4 will be 1-4, 4-4 will be 2-4, etc. So on floor 4, if you get DM you will fight DM2.

BTW, if you're attempting Aria, you probably wanna practise DM, especially DM2 and DM3.

Yeah, that's actually the first boss I wanted to practice xD
I dunno why but I feel like the music is a little bit faster than DM beat. I might be just me tho.

It's exactly the same - but if you mean DM2 specifically it may be because of the movement style of the mimics.

As for practising, I also suggest boatloads of DB, and some amount of FM of you have the DLC. KK is easy, just stand between the two lines and alternate attacking, and CR is a joke.
