If you have a rapier or axe that deals 3/5 damage, you can usually charge up the middle, though certain openers can mess up rapier. I can never remember which pawns are safe, but I know if a knight moves first you'll have to call this plan off.
If those quick kills aren't available to you, going up column 3 is the most reliable way to do the fight normally. From there you can either take out all the pieces one by one, move up to him with a 3/5 damage weapon to oneshot him, or spend a bomb on DB1/2.
Long answer: only if you have items that shield, do room damage, or get a spear/dagger to enough damage so that you can throw it as soon as you enter the room. Basically you're screwed if you're low% Aria or Cadence, but fine as normal Aria with the tiny item pool.
My personal advice is to take out the Knights and Queen ASAP, then let the others come to you while you wear down the pawns.
Also, since we're at the topic of Deep Blues strategies, how should I approach Deep Blues as Monk? I've had a few runs where I couldn't get to the exit because I was trapped.
On the subject of bombs, DB, and Amplified, grenade charm and grenades are great for DB too.
- Nocturna 1
- Nocturna 2
- Cadence 1
- Cadence 2
- Melody
- Aria
Then there's the other 5 standard bosses, each with 5 difficulties.Grenade charm kills all versions just by walking up 3 spaces and throwing a bomb.
Walk up to row 3, throw dagger/spear, fireball. He will always teleport to row 3 first, so fireball is sure to hit. Note that lesser fireball (tome/spell without ring of mana) is 3 damage, so for DB3/4/5 you need at least 2 damage on the dagger throw.
Go up column 3 like usual and take out a few pieces so you can reach the King when he castles, Earth spell.
Quake scroll does 1 damage to everything, won't kill the king but it'll take care of all 1HP (blue) pieces.
Freeze spell lets you just get in there and hit him.
Ring of courage with 3/5 damage enables you to safely charge up the middle. Even without the damage you can use it to take out all the pieces with invincibility, just don't attack the king until everything else is dead.
Shield spell usually doesn't help you kill any faster, but it's obviously safe. You might be able to rush in with some weapons, and it'll save rapier/axe from bad openings.
Boots of Pain can act kind of like a rapier for DB1/2, but make sure you also have damage on your weapon.
In general, you should always be aware of what resources are available to you and figure out what you can do with your tools.
BTW, if you're attempting Aria, you probably wanna practise DM, especially DM2 and DM3.
Yeah, that's actually the first boss I wanted to practice xD
I dunno why but I feel like the music is a little bit faster than DM beat. I might be just me tho.
As for practising, I also suggest boatloads of DB, and some amount of FM of you have the DLC. KK is easy, just stand between the two lines and alternate attacking, and CR is a joke.
