cotnd also requires lots of persistence and dedication so if you like games to be easy from square one it's not the game for u bc it can be really frustrating.
still, you should try it out (bc it's my fav game), and maybe it'll be the one rhythm based game you'll excel @ since it's different and more focused on the roguelike dungeon thing. like, the aim isn't to get insane combos, it's to kill ♥♥♥♥ and get out.
That said, just because the difficulty doesn't lie in the rythm aspect doesnt mean the other aspects of the game are any easier... Being a roguelike, expect to die alot until you learn and improve, or even get some upgrades (upgrades don't count for the All-Zones Mode though).
Being a roguelike, you start at the beginning of a zone every time you die and retry, and don't get to keep equipment. Any upgrades or items unlocked through Diamonds in the lobby will stick though, can't lose those. Fortunately the game generates new, unknown and often interesting maps every single time so it has a ton of replay value.
I'd say watch a few videos, see the rythm and roguelike aspects for yourself. Best way to determine if you want a game or not when not sure. It's way more roguelike then rythm, if you ask me, all you really gotta do is time your movements to the beats, helps that the music is great (with several versions/genres of the soundtrack to switch to), as well.
Monk was the most frustrating one so far due to the fact that he dies if you pick up any gold with him.
Will probably go for Bolt before trying to go for Aria. I did mess around with Aria, and while I could eventually deal with dagger only or 1/2 heart health, that missed beat damage is a pain so I generally die on 5-1(which is her first floor) and have only gotten to 5-2 2 or 3 times.
Did run through the single zones as Aria + Bard , so I do have access to all 5 zones for practice as well as her final boss if I ever learn how to consistently keep the beat.
but not as Aria.
